That’s what all this has been about. I bet the Government were desperately scrabbling around last night, getting the last asylum seekers off that plane so they could blame ‘dogooder lefty lawyers’. If the plane had gone ahead they’d have been up the creek without a paddle. Now they get to look like they want to do it, it’s just those pesky human rights getting in their way.

The trouble with this Tekky is that they have very limited legal right to work in the UK whilst they have 'asylum seeker' status, which hampers their ability to demonstrate their ability to work and be productive during the application period as you describe.

the ruling elite in this country are fkin vile. what saddens me most though, is that there 'enough' people in the country, that enable their agenda. personally can't wait to get out. leave the cnts to it. 10 more years and I'm out. can't come soon enough.

He always likes to try and cause some controversy with his opinions to keep himself in the media.

    How is his opinion controversial?

And goodness, when you think of the far right fringe who have somehow been allowed to have a voice despite their extreme views, I'm not sure you can be critical of people like Femi trying to cut through the primitive hateful tribalism.

?? Not sure which of my posts on here you read but that was my point. I actually said not allowing them to seek gainful employment pending the outcome of a protracted application for refugee or asylum status is illogical for a myriad of reasons, only one of which is adding weight to the argument of Right wing anti immigration proponents on the basis of the cost to the taxpayer maintaining the arrivals pending the outcome. As Jay rightly said, the whole Rwanda thing is to curb immigration , pandering to certain factions.

Sometimes.... even though all evidence suggests the contrary... you wonder if you can create a lightbulb moment for someone! Can you get heatstroke inside?

The racists in this country are summed up by this video. A stupid old woman basically advocating a crime being congratulated by an ignorant racist on Radio.

They don’t give a **** about the traffickers, they’re a convenience to this lot more than anything. Nice this govt, can get on with things when it suits but when it comes to addressing the cost of living crisis and such they can’t do anything until new PM is in place. The gullible people of this country will swallow all this

They could stop the traffickers within 10 minutes. Announce a safe, legal, way for people to apply for asylum. No one would pay thousands of pounds and risk their life to do something they could do safely and for free. Then, the only ones who are coming in via other means can be stopped as they are clearly not refugees. But they won’t do that so the trafficking continues.

    It really is this simple.

It's bizarre that no one is putting this argument forward. I watched an episode of Question Time for my sins, and even those against the Rwanda policy weren't informed enough on the issue to articulate this.

Sadly we live in a society where not enough people care about refugees.

It's so glaringly obvious and absolutely the right thing to do so you wonder why.... oh yes we have morons in government, I forgot for a minute.
