No the thread is asking if we should sign an injury prone football player who has barely played any football since he was with us a few seasons ago. I'm saying we already have enough players in our small squad that pick up injuries etc on enough of a regular basis without adding another. I don't expect every player to be able to play consecutive 50+ game seasons as an outfield player like Hourihane has (on top of similar for Plymouth), but i'd not want us to sign someone with his injury record.
Are you suggesting we've made him a **** contract offer so he doesn't stay but we get some compo for him?
Very close; when the club announce something I will publish the facts if different from their statement
What?! Williams was our stand out fullback despite playing left back. He made the step up from non league in 1 year. His potential goes far higher. Like Davies just keeps getting better with time and training.
I'd have liked him to sign up if we didn't already have loads of full backs - not sure if we need him at the minute Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
As I stated earlier in this thread "when the club announce something I will publish the facts if different from their statement"
Why are you wishing me good luck? The poster suggested we needed to look for more left sided cover, rather than right side. I named our left backs. We have more left than right backs. Whether they are good enough is up for debate. Which is something you could ask of all our players regardless of position. It's a step up for them all, pretty much. But I don't see us drafting in a couple of experienced full backs, because that would be repeating mistakes made during our last stay in the second tier as well as being at odds with the successful strategy the club has implemented over the last year or so.
My guess is we offered him a contract on the same terms (which won't be much) on the basis that we don't particularly want to keep him but he would be cheap backup if he accepted, and if he goes somewhere else we get some compo. He'll ask if we're taking the ****, we'll say that's the offer, take it or leave it and he'll sign for a L1 club. All speculation and just my guess like. Personally I'd try and keep him
Clearly our standout full back on either side. A huge reason we gained promotion. I'll be gobsmacked if we haven't done our upmost to retain him.
I can't see us or George Williams wanting him to go anywhere. Back on topic given the developmental blueprint I'd definitely see if McLaughlin would be interested in a pay as you play contract or any contract that shields us from his potential injury record. He's a good player with plenty of potential.
