It is a bit pathetic how no-one takes it seriously then as soon as they end up in the quarters the clubs act like its the most important competition in world football.

How is it a bad draw? I don't get it.

League two side at home, an early season tune up against weaker opposition, a home tie we can reduce the ticket price and the gate income will be a nice little bonus - 10% goes to the league cup fund, 45% to the teams. I'd rather have 45% of even a poor 7000 or 8000 gate at oakwell then 45% of a 2000 gate at York city. Or are we judging this on whether we get a nice little jolly rather than what's good for the club?

Scunny might bring a fair few too so there might be more than 7000 - its a pretty big draw for them and its not exactly far. Make it a tenner and a few more will attend anyway from both sides.

And yes it's a waste of time of a competition. Just ask Bradford. It's not like they gained momentum in the competition and ended up getting promoted. Nor did they make an extra million or two in revenue from tv money and gate receipts that they hadn't budgeted for and with which they can have a good go at league one with this year. Oh yeah and a trip to Wembley.

I don't understand the mentality of some on here. We've appointed sound and experienced business people to the board to increase revenue. One of the ways to do so is having a good cup run. Imagine we did win a couple of rounds and got a draw away at, say, Newcastle. 52000 capacity - by the time the costs and deductions are made, if they only charge £25 a ticket we'd get over half a million as our share of gate receipts. If we drew manure away, 75000 seats at, say £30, we'd get a million. They might not charge that for this competition, but they might even charge more. Plus if we draw a big club we will likely get a live TV game - more money.

This competition is potentially a cash cow and I reckon chairman mo will be keen for us to progress.

Then you have to say the same for the FA cup.

No league teams in until the 1st Round.

No Premiership or Championship teams in until the 3rd round.

Re: Just to save any unpleasantness later . . .

It's all gone quiet over there!! They don't need badges these skysports elitists!!

It's just a football match. Should get us into our stride nicely, I would have thought. :)

We wouldn't even get that many watching the game if it was a fiver to get in, played on a saturday afternoon and we borrowed the Crystal Palace cheerleaders for the day.

There'll be at least 5000. Got 4500 ish v morecambe a couple of years back. Over 4k Rochdale year before. And this season (hopefully) we'll have some nous in terms of promoting the game and knocking tickets out.

Like I say, I reckon minimum 5k and I'd be surprised if its less than 6. As long as the price is sensible of course. Can't imagine many shelling £20+ to watch us play S****horpe. And having watched Skint I can't imagine many scunny fans having £20+!

To think mrs troff spent the first years of her life in a flat on the infamous westcliffe estate - she's moved up in the world now though. We live in donny...

I know we did - they should include it with the season ticket but they never do.
