    Supposing..

Saddam had escaped from Iraq and ended up in the UK.

He has committed no crime here so cannot be tried. Our government would refuse to extradite him, since he may be persecuted in his own country.

In fact, the taxpayer would be paying for round the clock protection for him whilst he lives in the lap of luxury.

Nothing to do with the capital punishment debate, just an observation.

Should have put a bullet in his head when they caught him.

B*ll*cks to all this legitimacy stuff - it just costs money, kill him and move on.

They had the right idea in Rumania when the communist government was overthrown - find Ceausescu, kill him quickly and get on with democracy.

Who remembers or mourns for them now, no-one.

    I am Anti Capital Punishment.................................................

because I like to think I live in a Civilised Country.
There are other reasons which I have posted about in the past, so I won't go in to it any deeper.

Sadaam is still regarded has the legitimate President of Iraq by about a third of the people. Hanging him will only make Iraq a more dangerous place. But that Country is heading for Civil War if they hang him or not.

Terrorist who would face the death penalty and are free to walk the Streets in this Country should not sheltered. They should be deported and face Justice.

It would be even more civilised if we killed a few scotes.

    On a slightly different point...

Sound to you like he's backpedalling a tad? With Iraq in the state that it's in a word from him to some of these insurgent groups could certainly help moves to stabilise the country and partially extricate us and America from the mess.

A little deal to commute the sentence to life imprisonment, maybe?

    All conjecture, of course...
