Re: it turns green from red for me

I love the new format and have had no issues at all. It's very fast and my 'read' posts all change to green.
Its a massive improvement on the old BBS in my opinion

Who said there's no humour on here any more? Oh yes, it was in the start of the thread. Well done that man.

I wonder how many times someone has posted on similar lines in the last 7 years?

To be honest ct I've started using booing in everyday life now...me and my mrs no longer argue we just stand at opposite ends of the room pointing and booing each other..car doesn't start? No problem I just at the front of it booing at it...Even standing in the middle of comet booing the saleman cos he'd sold me dodgy tv works,

Re: How can the new format be a vast improvement

Have you tried reading it in hybrid mode? I will try and find a way of fixing this BUT I have to admit I don't find it a problem personally.

works fine for me too. turns green and the icon with the envelope changes to show there are read/unread posts....

Of course you can always subscribe to threads you like and keep track of them meaning you know which ones have been posted to.

Frankly im not sure why anyone would want that old pile of **** back that was used for so long. It was hideously slow, and unreadable beyond the thread you were on.

Re: How can the new format be a vast improvement

The main problem for me is the refresh rate, it takes an age to initially load and the back/forward navigation is like treacle. Thats with 20mg ethernet-ed broadband and a Vaio with a Core i5 processor. Im using Forum Runner on my mobile which is fine for reading but nigh on impossible to post, so basically I agree, its dying on its arse. I mustve missed the discussion about why the old board had to go, couldnt someone just give the server a kick?

Just about getting grips with it now, but must admit its been a while for me to accept it as it is. I admit that i'm one of the ones thats drifted away from the BBS due to its change in appearance and difficulties in actually getting logged in. Like i said, i'm getting to grips with it now and i have to say after using it for a few days i am getting to like it. It would be nice to get everyone back on board. My advice is...just persevere with it and hopefully it will become suited to you. I'm sure Gally has put lots of his time into it and its a WELL DONE from me to him for striving to better the forum.

Works fine for me - and tbh I much prefer it.

But admin are between a rock and a hard place as you'll never please everyone.

And FAO Gally, the posts I've read do change colour and thats great - any chance I could have them in Welsh as well

    Same for me

I'm ok with the format and really appreciate the speediness. But no change of colur for posts read. Mind you, I tend to remember what I've read anyway!!

Re: I'm having the same problems as you Jay

I've been a (mostly) silent observer on all iterations since the mid 90s (what was it called... Radder's Bar & Grill or something?) as I'm across the other side of the world. Basically, love the club and lap up all info where I can get it.

I can't put my finger on it, but we have lost something in the move to this new board - I know I should like it, and I understand all the arguments above. But... it's kind of like music... some songs you keep coming back to even though you can't explain why, and others that you think you should like struggle to get back on the playlist! Used to be, that my first browse every morning would be to the BBS... it would be a habit that I really enjoyed and I could spend a good hour or so just catching up on the goings on. Ever since the move, I have stopped doing that, & I can't explain why.

I'm not (yet another) old duffer asking for it to be restored... I can see that the majority want it this way, and I hope that ultimately it succeeds. I just know that I won't be lurking around like I used to for so many years.

I love it. A big improvement on the old one in my opinion. Doesn't have the 90's feel to it anymore and it is so much easier to navigate around.

I like it. Looks the dogs ****** to me. Only thing I don't get is the threading, but I ain't had time to play much yet (ie am I replying to initial post or last post ?). And my posts change colour after reading. I can't say which colours cos i am badly colourblind but I do know it changes from one colour to another.
