Close to 1m a year if my maths are right gross around 600k he earnt his big bucks by championship standards probably just wants to be settled with a big chance of playing. Was he born in Beverley so probably got family in Yorkshire seems a good fit for him.

The median weekly wage in league 1 is 6k. Be surprised if he's on less. Unless he's taken a decent signing on fee.

5 yrs ago in the Champioship our 6'5" striker was on £5k/wk basic. Would be around £6k now given inflation.

He’ll be one of our highest earners. And likely the contract will include a raise if promoted. It’s not all about the transfer fee sometimes.

What’s been made clear on a few occasions this summer, is that the club are only signing players who genuinely want to come here - not ones who are using us as a back-up to another move, or just coming for a long contract.

I suspect other targets may have been dropped if they were not 100% on us. And to tbf, quite rightly so. We’re a big club in this league, with a good side and facilities to match. Play off finalists last year too, so we should be up there for L1 choices, not just the money.

My guess would be if he was on 18,000 at Brum they will have paid him up at about 11k p/w to end his contract, and we'll be paying him around 7k - over three years that's just over £1m.

Brum terminated his contract so guessing they paid him up in part to get shut.. Soften the blow for a drop in wages with us

Other players may be contracted to be the highest paid player at the club. So I imagine he will be on the same, so that others don't get a pay rise also.

I also imagine incentives for promotion, so there will be no doubt about his commitment on the pitch.

I'd guess about 6k, with a load of bonuses for goals / promotion & some verbal agreement about match time, when fit to play by the physios.

Probably a decent signing on fee, being a free agent.

Somewhere around that mark has to be the truth. Probably a fairly low sell on too though, as a result, maybe £2 million?

Only a 2 year contract though. For all the talk of wanting to be here long term, (sound familiar?) I guess he wants to impress and be off up the food chain sharpish.

Ah, but what if we'd got Norwood on that 4 year contract, if only.

From the Book of Proverbs. (Slightly amended from the King James version, admittedly):

Where Norwood is, there the fire goeth out: So where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth. As Coles are to burning Coles, and Norwood to fire; So is a contentious man to kindle strife.

    Ponder on that.

Apart from spellings it is biblically accurate...

He may have done if Birmingham paid his contract up….which is fairly likely

I’ll never knock Schmidt - always tried his best, worked hard and scored some important goals at the end of the season. And agreed to a loan deal quickly when he knew he wasn’t in the plans.

You can work with that. It’s others who are lazy and bad apples who are the issue….

Nah, couple of assists and a good goal against Millwall too. Did he assist Odour too against Brentford?

Not saying he was the most gifted, but he tried - and those goals were crucial.
