Yes sounds like a Coburn loan would seem to be the more plausible thing Barnsley would do.Sounds like Carrick knows what they want to do with him, however all the cards need to fall into place. After Saturday it really concerns me who's going to put the graft in and press like Norwood. We know Cole isn't that kind of player but neither Watters,Dallas or Shaw put the required effort in for me !.
If they're even interested. I mean we might not be either, but I'm always sceptical when the rumour reckons there's at least 3 clubs interested in a particular player. Derby for one don't need any more strikers.
If the other clubs were Stevenage, Cheltenham, Burton or Shrewsbury, I'd fancy us, maybe, but that's about it.
Coburn is a good shout as an alternative loanee. There is a youngster called Malcolm at the Baggies who might be a good loanee as well, but the experience of a player like Cosgrove, or Coburn, both having played League One last season, would be better, especially as we have youngsters of our own waiting in the wings.
I had looked at Waine, the Kiwi at Plymouth Argyle, as another possible, but he scored a couple in midweek in the cup, so that might not be likely. We were linked with him according to the press before he signed for Argyle
Just watched his video when he joined Plymouth. Looks the perfect fit for us big strong mobile. Northern lad. Would push the boat out to bring him here. If Styles leaves invest some of that money as Promotion this season would be very important financially
We should already be investing the Duff, Andersen, Norwood and Stones money never mind if Styles leaves or not! Funds should already be in place…..
Thing is they won't though. If we're serious about promotion we should be chucking 700/800 grand to secure the likes of cosgrove on a permanent contract.
If Alan Nixon told me it was raining I’d go out in a tshirt and sunglasses. But we could do a lot worse than Cosgrove.
We pretend to be serious about promotion but actions speak louder than words. Recruitment so far this window has been abysmal, no denying that. The picture will be clearer by September 1st I guess....
We're not trying to buy players to get promotion, we're trying to buy players to make money on. Promotion is an occupational accident.
Sadly, you’re spot on. We’re a player development vehicle not a football club if we’re being bluntly honest. I guess what league we operate in doesn’t really matter. Hence the recruitment from non league. Cutting our cloth and that….
This is correct, so what has changed since last year when Neerav spouted the nonsense about winning football matches are a priority!? I’m seeing the exact opposite right now. Makes you wonder how we would have gone on recruitment wise had we got promoted!
