Has he tweaked the playing style? I must've missed it as we seem to have lost to a team without a win in 14 games, drawn against a team certain to go down and drawn against a team certain to finish in the bottom half of league 1
Those who went, i would say yes. I say that as if you watch it on TV or listen on the radio you don't always get the full picture or perspective of what's happening. We played higher up the pitch and pressed higher preventing the goalkeeper passing it to the defenders. Whether you like Watters or not, playing both him and Jalo meant we had pace up front which defenders are scared of which in turn meant they sat deeper allowing us to play further and higher up the pitch. If there wouldn't have been the catastrophic individual(s) error for the goal which the manger has zero influence over then we'd have a different view on this as we'd all would have said there's change to our style. If the referee wouldn't have bottled a clear decision I'm fairly confident the remainder of the match would have been played in Wigan's last third and who knows what the result may have been. For once in a very long time i see the smallest of green shoots to say that we may have hit rock bottom and may just be coming out of the other side.
That's the thing though with Watters, the effort and the pace is there. But his goalscoring is awful I'm afraid. I'm pleased to hear though that Jalo also had a good 70 minutes, despite the booking.
personally think we've gone backwards tactically and DC would have got more points from those 3 fixtures, defensively we are arguably even worse, agree about giving some faith to the youngsters which DC massively failed to do, but we were so open against Wigan smacks of complete inexperience, still failing to see that 5 at the back is just leaving us completely open
He is not the answer. He's about as good so far as the few times in the past Disco has been in the role. He's had a couple of nice easy winable games to start with and we haven't won any or kept a clean sheet.
Hes only given youngsters a chance because theres no alternative. If Gauci & Gent or Farrugia fit there’s no chance Favell & Bland are starting. Likewise Barrett only got a game due to injuries.
I’m not saying they haven’t. Someone else gave him credit for playing youngsters. I was just saying he hasn’t done it because he’s felt they’ve earned a spot in the side he’s done it because of injuries so there was no alternative but to play youngsters.
Maybe he has been told to play a few youngsters to see if any are up to it which may benefit the club financially.
Sorry, its just because you said 'are starting' as in next game. But I get your meaning. Would be nice to say you are wrong and conor called it but I suspect you are correct mate
Apologies if it it came across all la di da,it wasn't meant to be but more about you can't always comment if you don't get the full picture.
