You and jack were both making good valid points but you’ve gone a spoilt it all now you silly nincumpoop
That is true. Back to the original point, do you not feel that we’re at a disadvantage operating in this matter? Irrespective of last season’s promotion, I do feel that Moore needs replacing as he could’ve been a very effective plan b. I can see us either paying over the odds due to necessity or missing out entirely, as we did in January.
There's a huge problem with all this back and forth. None of us really have much of a clue how good Wilks, Chaplin and Miller would be up front should Cauley get injured. We've not seen anything like enough of them. Personally I like the look of Wilks and he might be able to fill in. The others, maybe Chaplin. As things stand I'd like a striker in that's ready to go but the coaching staff might be relaxed about what we've got. Presumably they're relaxed enough to risk Moore leaving without a replacement nailed down. It would still be nice to see someone exciting come in though.
I sort of agree. Bahre being made captain seems to indicate he definitely IS in his plans which suggests he only wants to play with one main striker rather than 442. I'm slowly warming to Bahre. He has a lot of quality. Just wish he could shoot straight.
We are now at a higher level than last season. I.would suggest we do try and get another striker in but as others have mentioned we currently have more options than last season for a central striker role- Woodrow Chaplin Wilks Miller Thiam Brown
I think at some point, he's going to start chipping in with goals and that point a lot of admiring glances will come our way. His control of the ball and weight of passing is highly skilful. He just seems a shy lad who doesn't realise how good he is. Could be a masterstroke to give him the captaincy.
Bahre is a very very good player it was clear to see last season. Must agree needs more composure in front of goal. This will come with confidance. Masterstroke by the gaffer to grt him here.
And according to Twitter, Charlton, Luton and us have all had bids rejected for Toney. I think everyone is after the same small number of players. I’m confident we could match or beat Brentford, Luton and Charlton for the fee, but we don’t do that. And Brentford will offer higher wages.
Reports coming out now that we aren’t getting this lad, they wanted 3 million Euro which we aren’t going to pay so the deals dead
I guess there is a point in time that comes where we just have to move on to Plan B especially with only 24hrs of the window left. We need a striker and if we have genuinely hit our evaluation cap then on to the next.
This is the part I don’t understand. We should have our players in place ready to sign before we agree to sell players. Hopefully the club have learnt from previous experience.
I don’t think it’s plan b though is it, by all accounts we’ve been in for Kone, Toney, that Dutch lad and now this guy, so looks we’re now well down the list, plan E? If the above is the case I can’t help feeling it might actually be better now, rather than rushing someone to keep going down the list, and being held to ransom, wait while January and get something sorted in the meantime ready for then.
Which is why we should have kept Moore around until the squad is complete. Unless more to the story why we have been happy to let him move on.
I agree. I'm hopefull we use some of that money to strengthen the squad in this window. I liked Moore, full of running & commitment, a good first touch, but a bit hit & miss in front of goal at times. With the recent head injury & his unproven ability at this level I think that kind of money needs to be snapped up. I don't think Wigan will struggle this season TBH, they have a pretty decent team. I'm hopeful we might be in the same situation, without Moore. Wish him all the best, hard working & committed in all his games for us.
I think Brown or Wilks could lead the line in the style we played versus Fulham. I think Brown may be ready for that role myself.
