Hobsons of Bayswater do DFMB's, and nice Fish & Chips's and there's other places as well. 10 min walk from Paddington station.
We went into a decent Greek restaurant when we were there 18 month ago but forgot what it was called. Was in Covent Graden so can't imagine being more than one, defintely not two there.
Turkish place up KX Best mangala. Bit pushy to upsell but its cracking turkish fodder. Decent portion size Not over priced. Serves ale.
For the oriential lovers on here (not the ones with tits) there's a little restaurant called Mr Wu's in china town just opposite O'neils and it's the dogs ****** (not that they serve up dogs ******) it's £5 all you can eat takeaway.......very very highly recommended boys and girls
"If you’re after downing a pint of Tennent’s Special and a whisky chaser (a Glasgow breakfast), then head to Deeney’s (deeneys.com) to soak up the atmosphere (and the alcohol). Deeney’s, which bills itself as “simple, tasty and fresh — like a Highland breeze wafting up your kilt”, dispenses haggis toasties with more meat than a wedding packed with real Scots. Try the Macbeth: a heart attack of haggis, cheddar and mushrooms, coated in mustard, onions and rocket. Deeney’s pops up in St Katharine Docks, Broadway Market and Chatsworth Road Market." Can it be authentic Scots if it serves rocket?
If you're into Japanese food then Taro in Covent Garden is worth a look. Has two restaurants in Covent Garden - one is small and usually packed the other is slightly bigger. If you fancy travelling then I'd highly reommend StickyWings on Brick Lane serves American style chicken wings - cheap but really good. There's also East Street restaurant just off Oxford Street which does South Asian type stuff. It's owners used to have a restaurant in Leeds (Tampopo) but packed it up and moved to London. Again cheapish decent food - of the same ilk as Wagamamas.
PS - Check out the takeaway menu of this place (although I thought it was more of a main course than a dessert?) http://www.oliversfishandchips.com/menu/
