Mike Lester played in the centre of midfield and never played as a striker. He was replaced in that position by Ray McHale.

I don't remember anything about Mike Lester either, other than the blond hair and the number 10. And I always thought 9 & 10 were strikers numbers in those days.
Was Lester a grafter, like Ray McHale was, who replaced him.

Fulfilled the same role in the team.

Our midfield numbers were: 4,5,10 and 11

    Strikers: 8 and 9

    Full backs: 2 and 3

    Centre halves: 6 and 7

A couple of those are obviously nuts

I thought 11 was a winger, like Stewart Barrowclough, err maybe lol.
Derrick Parker was 8, Ronnie was 4, err what number was Banks and McCarthy and Evans, I'm getting confused now.

11 was worn by a winger, but I include that in midfield, so yes, Barrowclough wore 11, before that Bobby Downes and after Alan Birch.

    Banks wore 5, McCarthy 6, Evans 7.

Speaking of 11, I think one of our best players and sadly under used players in that role, was Owen Archie.
As for Banks and Glavin working well together, they were like an early version of Gerard and Lampard lol.
