Forgot to say that Alan Sugar when he took over Tottenham said that no matter how much money you had in a club someone would want to spend it all on players. No investment in facilities.
When did the old social club actually close? I remember going in a few times but can't remember if I was old enough for a jar...
It's not a case of the scoreboard or a loan signing. The scoreboard was being financed over ten years.
agree score board to be done over monthly payments with sponsorship to cover costs---brings in new supporters, create a talking point, along with the team doing well ,new interest similar to what a new ground offers Value For Money added features to get young ones interested new life blood of the club.not, show videos of past games home and away pre match and half time.a few cinema type adverts, income not always instantly seen on balance sheet.takes time fore people to adapt and change there social life. multiple strategies need combining to attract new fans......and ADVERTISE IT outside the football genre ,new fans don't read web site of the club ,use other media for there news . some don't even know how to buy a ticket for a game. need a big billboard on side of oakwell sandwiches advertising sole news for bfc ,prices ,new big screen ,next home match.even special meal deals from lindleys. change adverts regularly. oh and a temporary bar in ponti end..
To those who doubt the need for a scoreboard, get down to Brighton when you next get a chance. Used in the right way, they can really help whip up an atmosphere.... ...and managers are ALWAYS saying how important that is.
Why dont we keep the old scoreboard but change where it says BARN@~EY (a ****ed up few letters due to a few failed lights) to REDS so you cant tell the old one is buggered, it does my head.
I've gotta be honest and say I don't give a flying **** about the scoreboard........take it down for me. I know the REDS score cos I am at the game..............and if I wanna know other scores I ask a fellow fan or look on my Blackberry/i-phone. For me......it really is a very low priority.
it's probably like an iPhone. resist for years, then as soon as you buckle, you realise how you managed so long without one
I used to say that about exec boxes . Big money raises now. And a lot of folk love em progress eh bloody hell.
Have you never been to a pub/restaurant etc and thought that it was a nice place with some nice features I'll come here again. That's what club have to do not just preach to the converted.
Yes.......and I think other options could improve our matchday experience better than a scoreboard ie. a decent supporters bar with Sky TV, decent drinks/snacks, allows kids (accompanied with adults), non-membership, large TV's showing "iconic" BFC games, etc. We have the available space either at back of Ponty End or East Stand and the building does not have to be anything more than a steel structure + cladding ie. not over expensive.
A beer in the Ponty would be good. Don't care about Sky and defo don't care about a scoreboard. Funds spent on players please
I don't think people understand what a new scoreboard would mean. It would cost around £100,000 which is paid for over 10 Years coupled up with advertising. The revenue from 10 years of advertising would greatly outweigh £100,000 (even though this isn't paid upfront), meaning increased funds to spend on the pitch. Investment. It gets more local businesses involved with the club as advertising on it would mean (hopefully) 10,000 people see your business. People coming every now and again would think 'new scoreboard looks good, they're actually spending some money improving the facilities, not bad' I'd rather have a proper scorboard instead of the thing we have now, I'm sure many people feel the same. I can't even remember how long we've had that scoreboard - The one at the minuite makes us look like a poor club, who can't even afford something that is standard at most of the clubs higher up the football tree these days. 'Matchday experience'.
But if there was decent beer and Sky Sports showing Live noon kick-offs, then you'd encourage fans to get to the ground earlier rather than taxi from pub to ground at 2:55pm.
Get rid of all the old box telly's underneath the stands, donate them to schools or something with some free tickets. Then like it has been mentioned before, in the Team Tarn forum, have local businesses sponsor a flat screen(s). This includes purchasing the screen, installation and running costs. The tv's could have a surround that permanently advertised their brand/product and every so often it could also appear on the screen like a screen saver which benefits the company. Whilst the club pays for sky and gets more fans in before the game spending more money on beer. That could be a quick resolve to the social get together that has been mentioned while a social club is planned further.
So lets get this in perspective. Nearly all grounds including all our neighbouring clubs have up to date Advertising /Scoreboards. We have a Wheeltappers and Shunters, set up. Fukcing great. Then if we are not all in it for a Piss up at ground, fukc those driving, then it is a no go. Then set our sights on a steel clad shed in car park for a supporters club. We really set our sights high at Oakwell. Cannot even get proper toilets in west Stand It would be nice to get an overall view of what all the supporters wanted and not the few Antis on here.
