This is only our 2nd visit to the current iteration of Accrington Stanley. Both of our previous meetings have resulted in 2-0 victories with Cauley Woodrow, Kieffer Moore, Dimi Cavare and an own goal being the scorers. Stanley sit perilously close to the relegation zone, just a point ahead of Forest Green albeit with a far superior goal difference. They've picked up more points away from home this season than they have at the Wham Stadium. Accrington have gone 4 home league games without a win (3 defeats), albeit mainly against sides currently in the top 6. In fact Accrington's home points have all come against sides currently in the bottom half, and their defeats have been against sides in the top 6. Whilst we have only visited the current Accrington once, we did visit 1891 Accrington on 6 occasions, winning 3 times, including our record away victory of 0-9. Coincidentally, we've never drawn with either version of Accrington Stanley (Won 10, lost 4). The form table has us 4 points clear at the top over the last 5 games, which has aided us in building a 4 point cushion to 7th place, with 2 games in hand. We've won 3 straight league games away from home, and 5 home and away in the league. In all competitions, Accrington have only lost once in 8 matches, meaning this is the proverbial banana skin. That being said, I'm going for 0-2 with Cole and Williams on the score sheet.
Wham stadium? Hope we turn a different corner and field some young guns who go for it to put us in a better position than last Christmas. Another 3 points and ill be on the edge of heaven if we can play with a bit of freedom.
Another 2 nil win to us, we are looking discplined strong and determined, good Barnsley side we should be happy to cheer on after all the problems we have had.
