Having dealt Leyton Orient their first defeat in 8 games, we travel to Shropshire, hoping to inflict a 4th straight home defeat on Shrewsbury (in all competitions). Given our respective league positions, it's unsurprising that the bookies have us as 12/11 favourites, to extend our unbeaten away run to 7 in the league with a victory here. Shrewsbury are 5/2 to grab what would only be their 3rd win in 12 league games.

The Shrews home form is much better than their away form. Despite that, they only have the 15th best record in the division, with 22 points from 15 games. They've won 7 of their home games however, drawing 1 and losing the other 7. There victories at home have largely come against sides in the bottom 8 (5 of their 7 wins), though they did register a 1-0 win at home to Derby back in October, courtesy of a Conor Hourihane own goal.

Our record in Shropshire is mixed, with 6 wins, 5 draws and 11 defeats in 22 visits there. Though we have only lost 1 of our last 5 trips there, spanning 38 years. Between 1970 and 1986, we lost 8 of our 9 visits to the Gay Meadow. Our winning goalscorers at the New Meadow have been Sam Winnall, Alfie Mawson, and current man of the moment, Adam Phillips.

Goals have been an issue for Shrewsbury this season. They are the joint lowest scorers in the division with Cheltenham on 22 goals (though the Robins have played 2 fewer games), though they have scored in their last 4 competitive fixtures suggesting an improvement. They went 7 games without a goal in all competitions earlier in the season. Their top scorer Daniel Udoh on 5 goals, 2 of which coming in his last 3 games suggesting he's hit a vein of form. Experienced one time reds target Chey Dunkley is on 4 goals, suggesting he could be a threat from set pieces, given his mammoth frame.

Referee Thomas Parsons has taken charge of 15 games this season, issuing 75 yellows and 2 reds. He is currently on course to win the comparatively competent trophy, having taken charge of the reds 4-0 away victory at Cambridge earlier in the season, and warranting an average score of 7.61 from the BBS faithful. He was praised for his unfussy nature, and tendency to talk to players rather than brandishing cards left, right and centre; though he did book Nicky Cadden and Callum Styles. He last took charge of Shrewsbury on this day last year, in their 3-2 home win over Port Vale, issuing 7 yellow cards.

I can't see past a reds win in this one. We will of course miss Connell, as we often do, however I still think we've sufficient in the side to see out this one. I'm also predicting that rarest of beasts too, a clean sheet. I'm going for 0-2 reds with Cole and Phillips continuing their good run of scoring form.

Reds to win 0-2. Do you know for sure that Connell will be out?

Tricky one this. Should be a comfortable win for us but that’s just the sort of game we will mess up. Vital we don’t underestimate them and start off the pace like we did v Exeter at home. Think we will do just enough with a 1-0 win and a squeaky last 10 mins but won’t be surprised at a draw.
Final prediction 1-0 with Cole scoring in the first half

One match ban for two yellows. Carrying an injury, so not that terrible in a way.

We should win it, but not a given.

They had a good result at Derby yesterday 1-1, which will give them a boost. Luca will be suspended, but then again his injury may have kept him out anyway. Feel confident we won’t lose, 2-1 us if we score early, but 1-1 seems more likely to me. Cole scoring
