Bloody hell. At £500 per minute you have to ask why we haven't looked at this before. If a club like Burnley can do it then so can we.

I'm not sure where the figure of £ 40,000 comes from for the Man City screen , but I can tell you it more than likely wrong . Their screens 9 they have two I think ) are 60 sq meters ( 10*6) 16mm pitch and are supplied by a UK based manufacturer . They will have cost much more than that. I know the component costs of these products and £40k would mean it was either a loss leader or a pile of junk :D

If somebody want to break out a big ruler and measure up the real estate available for a screen , I'll give you some more accurate ideas at different price points.

A simple text to screen software program is a great revenue source using interactive mobile phone competitions etc . Been around for years. This is also a good way for the club to collect mobile numbers for marketing mail outs. And before anyone moans , you can opt out of those services!!

Any questions , just ask me :D

I have the quote and its from the makers of Man City's screen not for the cost of Man City's screen. The 47k was for a refurbished 2nd hand one that they offered us after they had quoted a brand new one the size of the City one, here's the full quote. I would imagine Scanlite products are amongst the best on the market looking at their clientele.

    Thanks Gordon ,

That's an older DIP Led type screen with a 25mm pitch , which is pretty low by today's standards. The products they sell , for what I can tell , are pretty normal LED screens , very similar to the types I would recommend. Up to date units use SMD3528 and SMD5050 RGB chips , and are much much better.

As I've said earlier , I supply the screens , so , unlike Scanlite , don't install . My clients tend to be rental companies , so they look after their own installs and software needs.

Having said all that , I could supply a new system for less than the above cost , with a higher resolution and newer technology . I'm not going to give out a price on here , as it would be a preferential one for the club. Installation isn't as complicated is you might think . A builder and a spark screen.jpg y , no problem ! The only issue would be the software for displaying the content. I'll ask around and see what's available.

I may also be able to get hold of a used system . The pic is for example to show how easy they are to fit.

I've found a used system that should be up for sale very soon. 16mm pitch HD with SMD Leds , 6000 nits daylight operation , 12 months old , only used half a dozen times. I'll get more info on it tomorrow . The down side is it's 16 sqm . Big enough ?

No google required. It's one of the very very few facts that I know. That and the fact that the moon is made of cheese.

Actually I read it on snopes.com years ago.
