Re: Huddersfield's second goal anyone. Just stopping Wiseman from getting anymore uncalled for criticism I think he's had his fair share this season.
Re: Huddersfield's second goal anyone. That's my point though, most of it was justified and I sincerely hope he keeps playing to the standard he's showed since he was recalled to the side.
Re: Huddersfield's second goal anyone. I've just seen it on Player. Definitely Cranie. He had an unusually poor game and was at fault for both goals against Huddersfield. Still a class defender though.
Wiseman was never as bad as was made out by a not uncommon pack mentality that unhelpfully lambasted him on this site. I remember when McCarthy played for us and it seemed that every time he made a mistake the other side scored (he got stick too!). But that ignored all the good work he did. So with Wiseman - he mopped up balls over the top with his pace, time after time, that no other defender of ours could dream of doing. it therefore depends with Wiseman on how we play and where we play him. Play him to his strengths and his pace is priceless. Try and have him neutralise a burly centre forward and he won't. Why were other clubs interested in him? To suggest he got a magical pair of boots for Christmas is tosh
I think he's had more threads dedicated to him, of a praising nature, than ANY other player. So no idea where the OP has been the last few months. Hell, he was even getting threads dedicated to him when he went 10 minutes without costing us a goal. I, and the majority of sensible BFC fans with actual eyes that can see, criticised him when he was playing like a Sunday leaguer. Since Flitcroft took over, and Scott turned down Blackpool's reduced offer, he's improved enormously. But let's be reight, he's still not as good as many are now wanting to believe. Check the Hull game t'other week - nearly cost us two goals. But because he's improved, people who gave him warranted criticism (not abuse) decided to leave off him. I've never wanted to be proved wrong about a player as much as I have with Wiseman. And as I say, since Flitcroft took over he's begun to change my opinion, and I'm glad he's grown a backbone and got past the abuse of a minority of absolute cretins who booed him twice against Blackburn. People such as Young Nudger (who hasn't seen BFC this year) who suggest Wiseman was ALWAYS quality, dilute any appreciation for him. He was garbage since February last year, with the occasional decent display outweighed by a **** load of awful ones. Nobody can convince me otherwise. I have spent a hell of a lot of time lately watching the last 18 months of our games back, on Player (for my videos) and he must have been at fault for at least 40% of our goals. I'm not imagining it, the videos aren't edited, it happened. Absolutely ecstatic for the lad in terms of him now being appreciated more thanks to his improved displays. But let's not get carried away. I think Hassell's performances in the same time period, considering his total lack of football for a year (practically), and the stick he received from the ex manager and a few cretins among the fanbase, they deserve as much appreciation in my opinion. His win ratio says it all. *swim fishy, swim...*
This isn't a bite whitey that your after Wisemans played quite well. Like Ben Alnwick but people are writing rubbish about him. Like the other day with Ben, someone questioned his KICKING. I'm sure if this person goes to game drunk but why would anyone question Bens kicking I just can't understand. Back to Scott Wiseman. The guys got everything. Quick strong quite tall and does tackle and go to ground if needed. Whitey, you say X person hasn't seen a lot of games. Well I have. Maybe 35ish games and then pre season... and he's a good player in my opinion. People certainly got on at him unfairly. I see you are quick to mention this incident against Hull that i can't remember but you never mentioned a certain player backing off in injury time against Cardiff away for example. Steele saved well against Helguson who must be stronger than HULK to back off that far. All in all. People do keep getting on at him. Said it before but i'm not sure if its due to what they drink pre game but people can't even see what's happening most of the time. someone had ago at him from the stand for not making someone else man and staying with the man he's meant to be with several time.
Thing is, Hemsteiger, I've no problem when it comes to admitting that Bobby has made mistakes. He has done. But they're rare and so they stand out more. Wiseman's mistakes were so frequent it was hard to keep up with them. Both are good players, end of Fred. Alnwick's never had abuse off me. Decent number two to the GREAT Luke Steele.
You can pretend otherwise all you like but Wiseman did have difficult spells, in his first season lots of goals came from his mistakes at right backl & early this season he struggled against strong, physical strikers (which I blame Hill for picking him against these types of strikers). He's been very good the 2nd half of this season & probably our 2nd best defender behind Cranie but it doesn't change what happened last season & the first half of this season. There seems to be people who want to pretend he's always played as well as he has the past 3 months to suit their 'I told you so' agenda. Anyway, lets hope he carries it on into next season, great show of character by him to turn it round.
