Probably not, I am like a moth drawn to the light in a darkened room when it comes to time spent away from home' it's my go to place. But could the divorce proceedings if independence happens make me feel different?
Hope not mate. Why should things change. I’m absolutely sure you would be warmly welcomed and I think you also know that.
Always made warmly welcome on my many visits, had a magnificent enlightening exchange of views with a crafty crofter on Skye not long back (he was originally from Aberdeen) his opinions on the affluent English buying up property in the Highlands made for great entertainment! He was really pissed off that we have loads of ALDI and LIDL supermarkets in Yorkshire and they had none.
Spain would probably veto Scotland’s membership for fear that it would embolden their own secessionist movements. Also, the idea that a hard border between England and Scotland would be anything other than a disaster for both countries is almost as naive as believing any of the b*llsh*t that Boris and his cronies have come up with in recent years.
Just recalled a bit more of the exchange with Crafty Crofter, he had a bee in his bonnet that the CO-OP seemed to have a monopoly in the Highlands (particularly on Skye). My wife went at length to explain that the CO-OP was a more ethical retailer than most and that it wasn't such a bad thing shopping there. Crafty Crofter said ethics don't save him money to which she replied neither will independence, at this point I complimented him on the condition of his sheep (to which I have no knowledge) but the diversionary intervention distracted his attention to speaking of his flock!
In the end self-determination has to be given consideration. As Johnson and the Tory's retreat into patriotism - see Liz Truss in parliament this week saying she's happy to break EU law "because she's a patriot", I mean its just not a great look for me. I guess the question is what is going to be tangibly better for your average Scottish person by leaving the Union? Someone needs to make that argument, but I think the same reason people voted Brexit they would vote for Scottish independence - some ill defined "freedom" that's quite out of reach given the fact the planet is now run by un-accountable banks and multi-national companies with non-resident billionaires running the whole thing. Given the situation in Corsica and the Basque region I doubt France and Spain will be welcoming this either.
Hopefully, and his name is Duff! On a serious note some people take great comfort at the thought that there is.
Spain didn't veto the membership of Czechia, Slovakia (former Czechoslovakia), Estonia, Lativa, Lithuania (Former USSR), Croatia, Slovenia - or indeed isn't for Serbia, Montenegro or North Macedonia (former Yugoslavia). Plan B for the SNP - if this doesn't work - should be to form/fund an English Nationalist Party to get enough seats in Parliament to kick Scotland out...
