Anybody have an idea? I’ll be paying up front for mine next week as there doesn’t seem to be a payment plan in place as of yet.
Probably not too many but I think in previous years the bulk of the sales happen towards the end of the early bird period.
Lots probably waiting for payday. Also if the sales are poor I wouldn't expect the club to be shouting about it as it doesn't really help encourage sales. Given the huge hike it prices I wouldn't expect many sales ones the price penalty is brought in though.
I'll be renewing next week but heard that sales are extremely slow. Surely an EB extension to end of May is a certainty, especially as the finance options aren't ready yet? Then again, nothing would surprise me with these jokers.
You can add some extra zeroes to last year's total. Sorry, meant replace last year's total with zeroes. My bad.
I will be renewing next week but the current Mrs DR has opted against it after only one year as she did not attend enough games to make it cost effective.
I’m the same as Mrs DR. I’ve missed more than half the games and if I add the purchase cost to the number of times I’ve subscribed on iFollow to watch it has made for a very expensive season. Add travel costs on top of that and there are weeks where I don’t bother travelling because a tenner to iFollow is less than the petrol costs. I hate to say it but that season of shut down has got me used to watching matches on my computer. Those bygone days of not minding being cold/wet on the terraces or in my seat have probably gone for ever. It doesn’t matter who the opposition are either. I shall pick and choose my visits next season, whether I am 50 miles away or 250 miles away.
Not renewing no issue with anyone renewing at all but I hope the owners get a massive kicking with low numbers, obviously this is at the detriment to the team we follow but we cannot continue in this vicious circle.
I want to renew just cant bring myself to after the season we have just had, the self inflicted relegation and the players brought in last summer.
Sales will be really poor because in previous seasons we can't wait to pop a article up saying how many thousands we have sold. They should have made it so those who want one but don't currently can buy one in a random place so they get it at early bird price but then can move to somewhere else when those unsold season ticket seats go on general sale.
I've got no doubt they'll be aware of the feedback from fans on this. If they dont extend, quite frankly it's appalling.
I’m not sure a shortage of finance is the issue it once was? Barnsley seem to have quite a lot of reasonably affluent fans. Look at this season - over 11,000 ST Holders but how many of those have attended games in 2022? 7,000? I know it’s not on the scale of Arsenal with up to 20,000 not bothered, but we now have a significant number who can purchase a ST without being overly concerned about whether they attend. It’s a far cry from the 80s.
Its a good point, I would say Im in that number who have not attended regularly despite having a season ticket. If I was renewing I would buy outright but I would also wait until the last few days. Not for financial reasons but almost superstition. Don't commit until you have to as you never know what will happen.
This may be true in part but those who have bought for this season and not attended may not have bought one if they'd known what was going to be served up, however rich they are. I say in part because on Saturday I didn't use my season ticket for the first time when I was able to that I can remember and I'm at the other end of the affluency spectrum - the decision for me came down to the marginal cost, it simply being far less costly to stay at home than spend on the petrol that I'd have needed to get to the game. I think quite a few have said, "yeah, I might lose out the £13 quid I paid but I'll save transport costs etc". I was wrestling between head and heart about renewing but every time the heartstrings came anywhere close to winning the club seems to have come up with another dumb-ass thing to persuade me not to. The latest being the whole debacle around early bird dates and financing options which means they've priced me out anyway unless there's an extension to the early bird to 31st May and I think they are so remote from understanding what fans think that will not happen.
In that sense I suppose I’m one of the lucky ones. ££ isn’t really an issue. I travel 200 miles for every home game, so the cost of a ticket isn’t that big a deal. What is a big deal is the way in which the Club is being managed. I won’t be renewing my ST - simply because it’s one of the few ways I can show my unhappiness. I wish I had the discipline of those who say ‘not a penny more’ but I know I will attend for some games; home and (particularly) away.
