Dont dare blame the fans Wasnt so long ago that the majority opinion seemed to be that the only thing stopping us breaking 15,000 a week was the price. Seems we cant even give season tickets away these days. Ask the travel agents though if there's a credit crunch and they'll tell you they've never been busier. Still cant move in the Blah Bar on a Saturday for folk queuing out of the door to pay £3.80 for a pint. Priorities and all that. Maybe a 'box office' signing would encourage a few to renew, but the sad reality is De Silva will be sold and Davey will most likely have to work miracles again to get a replacement with the balance of whats left.
RE: Dont dare blame the fans So you don't think that people might be slightly put off by the prospect of a fourth consecutive relegation battle? We don't need a "box office signing" to whip up some interest - a new manager would have done that
RE: Dont dare blame the fans Davy can always put Darren Moore in midfield and bring Hume back as centre half.
RE: still not... As long as you can afford one before the Coventry match you'll be fine. All you get if you renew before then is a couple of glorified training matches known as pre season friendlies, which are always boring to watch and the players don't go 100% incase they get injured.
I think the right combination of cost and decent football... would result in us getting 15k plus. The question is can we deliver any improvements on lower crowds and with the same manager? A little self belief would be a start...
If PC is unsure abut Davey..he isnt going to give him funds then relace him... Missed a chance to replace him and move forward me thinks.
SO, don't we have to ask why this is? Is it that BFC is just not that popular? Is it that folks would rather go on holiday than have a season ticket?
He's got to back him now as he has.... like you say missed the boat to get shut before the start of the season. I'd liek to hear about Davey's "Plan for BFC" that he would be asked for...
RE: SO, don't we have to ask why this is? I think that attending football matches has dropped down the priority list, the option to sit at home and watch SKY is considered cheaper and more appealing. Even if we could guarantee a win and some attractive football on show, I doubt many of those who have opted not to bother will venture down or commit to even half a season. That said, I've no doubt that if we by some miracle got promoted to the Premiership, it would be a sell out, so does it say more about peoples attitudes than whats actually going on at the club?
No, it's not... sadly, that is the price the game has to pay for selling it's soul to Sky. That said, I'm still convinced that we could get 15k plus if we had a winning side playing decent football...the potential is still there.
No, very much a general feeling society in general has changed, working class support have been priced out, now the more fickle middle classes have taken up residence on the terraces, they are more demanding in terms of value for money, we could do with a temporary resurgence of hooliganism to clear them out and a return to the good old days of the early 80's where you turned up regardless and there was no such thing as the internet.
RE: No, very much a general feeling I keep trying me best.
We all want entertaining and we want it now. If we don't get it we want to know to the nth degree why not.
In BFC's case I think the furore over administration has made TARN fans take a greater interest in off field matters than ever before - to the extent that it seems a priority to have people we feel comfortable with in charge of our club, rather than just being focussed on the playing squad. That and the amount of influence that money has now on the game, we're petrified if we aren't spending to keep up with the rest.

RE: No, very much a general feeling The fan base at Oakwell has definitely become more bourgeois over the last few years Sometimes in the Ponty end I feel like I'm in the member's bar at Lord's
The ponty end normally sounds like the members club at nick griffins house Well one section of it does at least
RE: Season Ticket Sales Well Down on last year Been told by a employee at the club that Season ticket sale s are down by 70% on last year , the feeling in the club generally apart from Patrick Cryne is that it is a protest at Mr Daveys continued involvement with the club, and because of this there are certain fears that less income via Season ticket sales will effect "Jobs" in the office and admin staff.
