I'm sorry but while PC is not the club

    he may as well be.

Still I suppose if we give 'em till the end of august things may change and theres 2 days left yet to KO.

As for the effects on season ticket sales...

I know at least 2 former season ticket holders whom have decided not to buy this year (and last) due to lack of transfer activity particularly relating to bringing in experience and a striker. Judging by their attendance at games last season they will probably end up paying on the day for 6 games or so but otherwise not bother.

No doubt theres a thousand such souls scattered about not to mention the reluctance of the casual supporter to pay on the day when we are weaker than last season.

Also it has to be remembered

That PC's statement was released on Barnsley FC's OFFICIAL website. I don't know about anyone else but when a statement is released via Barnsley's official website then I regard that as an official Barnsley FC statement.

Can you be absolutely sure . . .

. . . that they'd have bought season tickets if we'd have dealt more in the transfer market? I'm not doubting that they say that but it's an easy thing for them to say. As for the casual supporter, that'll be based on results not perceived strength of the team, not that it'll make much difference as I don't think we'll exactly set this division alight. But there are quite a few big games this season and if we perform well in some of those then we might attract a few casual supporters to come to the games in-between.

It'll be interesting to see how the half-season tickets offer stacks up this year.

In these cases, yes I am certain.

Hopefully we'll soon pull something out of the bag and those 1/2 season tickets may sell well but I think we have lost a great opportunity to re-enamour lost ST holders.

fair enough, and i can see where you're coming from, but these potential ST holders who didn't buy a ticket last year - surely promotion to the championship would at least nudge them on.

obviously they doubted AR and the players and the board last year, fair enough, they were unporven at that stage, but all parties excelled in all our expectations last year - wouldn't that give them a bit of confidence, i.e. i doubted them this year, but i was proved wrong, i doubt them this year... but hey, i've been proved wrong before....

I don't think thats too bad. More than half our fans will be season ticket holders.

What exactly were you all expecting?

    23000, 18000 ,15000 , 10000 ?

The football we played last season wasn't the most attractive football to come out of Oakwell.

The last 12 league games were dour. It was only the play off games which got the blood rushing. Attendances need to be built up with a good run of consistant performances and sadly we didn't sustain any good form for long enough last season to be able to do that.

How do our season ticket sales compare with Colchester and Southend?

Southend have had two seasons of success to build their crowds up and Colchesters ground wouldn't get us all in would it?

Whether we struggle or prosper true fans should be behind them all the time.

The more season ticket holders the more chance of paying for the better players.

Some people on here are born moaners and never happy!!

I see where you are coming from with PC, also there are loan deals throughout the season.

With regard to non- renewals by ST holders, if they bought one last year when the prospects didn't look too good, why not buy one this year for Championship football at the same price ??

Also casual fans £20 to watch league 1 or the same to watch Championship, I know which I'd choose.

    Well done mate.

I know a few who are waiting to go down together so they can sit with one another.

I hope you can get a ticket quicker than I got mine. I paid for it in mid- June and only got it last week. They blame poor old postman Pat.

Thats such a **** excuse for not being arsed to go. They were prepared to watch basically the same team last year, now whats so wrong with them.

    RE: to be fair

Regardless of us losing every game, I went out and bought my season ticket and four others as soon as I could.... Transfer activity doesn't prompt me to buy the ticket, my love for the club and football in general does!

I appreciate some people aren't happy with the transfer activity, but im my opinion we have a equal level squad compared to last season, if not slightly better. Regardless of us having signings for the weekend, by the end of Aug we will have some premiership players in on loan.

Lets finally see some of you getting behind the team instead of moaning at everything.

Tykeman, can you give me a clue as to who counts as a suitable customer for BFC

I would have thought that a club in our financial position would be doing everything in its power to drive every single sale. Perhaps I am being naive to think that the money of the casual football fan is worth just as much in the till as the money of a BFC fanatic.
