Not on age but I think if you’ve held a season ticket for a certain number of years without a break you may get it , not sure how long it is though
At the time when I was sixty, it was at the beginning of September 2019. I was told that, as it was after the start of the season, I would have to wait until the following campaign before I was entitled to the reduction. I've had a season ticket since the start of the 1969/70 season.
Think you would have to be 60 by normally the 1st of August mate before the season starts although it starts in July this year. My birthday is December. I had to wait till the next season.
If we are going back to a season ticket are we getting shut of the cards to get in the ground as they aren't a 'ticket'?
I miss the old paper tickets. I always knew how many home games were left when the tear out tickets were numbered 1-23. Now I've no idea how close we are to the end of the season. And there's no point asking my son either, cos he just says, "Not ****ing close enough."
I seem to remember that when they were brought in there was talk of being able to scan them in the club shop etc to earn points when things were purchased and potentially even be able to preload them with money or purchases to use to buy programmes and things. None of which has happened and we've never even installed automatic turnstiles so we've ended up in some kind of halfway situation where we paid for cards, get no benefit to them and the club still has to have the same number of turnstile operators.
I think they need to get better at retaining season ticket holders like those in the West Stand for instance.
I guess there's a saving somewhere if we only get new cards every 3(?) seasons versus the cost of issuing paper ones every season - although IIRC we all ended up with new ones again this season after the scanning problems. It does seem odd though that the club haven't (yet?) pursued the automation through to its logical conclusion. Perhaps a knock-on effect of pressures behind the scenes re: staff changes, covid, etc.
What's the point of automated turnstiles at Oakwell when the 80% mob have been scouring other grounds for the Reds to ply their trade?
By investment, you mean carry debt. From day one it was made clear that they wouldn't be pushing money into the club and it was about self sufficiency. I'd rather not build up a debt that will see the owners end up putting us into admin, walking away and the club shut down. There are not a queue of people wanting to buy us, pretty sure of that.
