Yes, it's been shocking. Have to ask why Ali and Rashid don't want to play test cricket. Some of it will be the longer form, but some of it will be how spinners are handled in the test team.

100%. I look at someone like Nathan Lyon. He’s not exactly the greatest spinner you’ve ever seen, but they stuck with him and he’s done a very solid job for a long time now.

    HOW HAS BUTTLER DROPPED THAT?!?!

If Labuschagne gets a 100 here it will be one of the luckiest I’ve seen but we only have ourselves to blame.

Lucky yes but you can't drop those catches. Only ourselves to blame.
Burns up at the Gabba dropped Warner and he added another 50 odd runs.

May as well pack in if you're dropping those.

Yep. He’s a very lucky boy but we deserve everything we get. So poor.

I wonder if Root is still so positive. What was it he said the other day, this tour feels different to the others. Who's he kidding. :D:D:D

    Can’t say owt else really.

Problem is with this side is you just can’t see us batting for long enough to salvage a draw. So basically after day one of the second test we’re pretty much 2-0 down already. Great.

Old iron gloves. He’s a brutal short form player but he adds nothing to the batting at test level and can’t keep, why the chuff is he in?

averages 33 in tests but only 21 against Australia. You might as well play the specialist keeper Foakes averages 31 in tests and is a brilliant keeper. Why in the name of God isn’t he playing?

They’ve literally just mentioned this as I’m typing, keepers and goalkeepers catch/save thing by moving their feet.

That is one of the worst wicketkeeper drops i have ever seen.

    Lost all faith in em.

Cant bat cant bowl cant catch and team selection and tactics are baffling.

Been an 18 month build up to this series and you'd think they had only met up 2 weeks ago for the first time and are making it up as they go along.

    Silverwood has to go.

Get Jason Gillespie in. A proper coach/leader.

I’m not having that. The bowling has been good for a number of years. They’ve bowled well today but lack of luck and poor fielding has cost them.

You are spot on … he has done nothing wrong except getting injured 2 or 3 years ago.
He has then been kept out by the idea that we must play Buttler in all forms.

Foakes is a better keeper and I think potentially he would have a better Test average although 30 odd is acceptable

It only altered in April 21 & Eoin Morgan is involved as well with team selections , so this is something new .

I think the test captain has always had a significant input into the selection of the final 11, along with the coach. The selection panel only really ever selected the squads for them to pick from.

Again the bowlers were let down by poor fielding, poor selection and bad luck. But I do wonder whether it's a good idea to have Robinson, Anderson and Broad all playing, given the question marks over Robinson's stamina over the course of a whole test. Can easily see the team flagging.

We need a new captain and coach (though I'm not sure who the captain would be). We'll soon see Archer return and the emergance of players like Parkinson, Mahmood etc.. Can't afford to let Root and Silverwood break them.

There has always been a team of England selectors with a chairman of selectors , the set up now is a new concept & we will have to judge it over a period of time but I think both Root & Cook before him had to endure some strange team selections , well that is my opinion for what it is worth.
