Even at 390/7, Aus would've still been under pressure if they were playing against a team with any sort of functioning batting line up. But they already had enough runs and could swing the bat. Even now, with two down, teams should be confident of batting a day and a half to make it difficult for them to force a result. We'll lose by an innings though.
Predicted it yesterday. This England team can't get their heads round ignoring the scoreboard and just playing the conditions like the opposition have. If they can get 466 so can we but they don't have that stoic mentality.
Because we haven't got any better openers. He's absolutely *****, yet he's the best we've got. Fonzie is bang on about the county game being strangled and this affecting test.
The issues with Rory Burns is nothing to do with the county setup, and entirely to do with his own technique. Too many moving parts that have to be timed 100% correctly for him to stand a chance. What have the coaching staff done with him to help him get through his first 20 balls? Because once he does that, he's generally pretty good.
Rory Burns, should be playing village cricket and not opening the batting for England. He's a walking wicket.
To be fair I was making a comparison based on the current series in Australia , under English conditions it is a different ball game
The annoying thing is, he has 3 test hundreds, so the talent is there. But unless he tweaks his technique to give himself a better chance at the start of an innings, he'll be another Gary Ballance.
