We are 5 games in the season and we are already playing defenders as forwards. Full backs as centre halves and wingers as forwards. This point to systemic failure rather than either Heckingbottom or Daniel.

I saw him as a decent young manager who took an underperforming team and got it playing to capacity. He then had that team sold out from under him and was forced through a lack of options to play a dour game that kept us out of the bottom 3 against great odds. He isn’t anywhere near the best manager we had and certainly made mistakes but like Daniel he faced almost impossible odds. The system is the reason we get promoted it is also the reason we will probably get relegated.

 

I can’t be arsed but pretty much anyone in here will confirm that before a ball was kicked last season I said we would come straight back up and the season before I said after the transfer window and the flogging off Roberts we would go down. If you wanna travel through the posts feel free.

Again for simplicities sake if you sell all your best players you get relegated. If you blood their replacements pand improve them then you go back up if you have recruited well It’s how to break that cycle that is the question with no answer at the moment.

Pinnock definitely wasnt injured for the whole of his tenure he only got injured just before he left for leeds a broken toe in training just as he had got in the team with man of the match performance against preston at home a goal v reading and a winner at the SOL so that is far from the truth.

Sour grapes? I was unhappy with the decisions and football before he left and you know I was so it isnt that.

The underperforming team had turned the season around winning 7 on the spin and in the jpt final before he took over.

The chip on your shoulder is just the way you come across when you talk about Heckingbottom. Completely and utterly negative despite him giving us the best 18 months since we went in the prem. maybe in a few years perspective will let you see things differently. He wasn’t the messiah but on the balance of things did a good job.

Overall Johnson was a poor manager for us and despite significant investment at Brizzle seems unchanged He goes on losing runs and goes on winning ones. Nothing has changed since he left us.

He took a team that contained Hourihane, Winnall, Scowen, Bree, Mawson and Roberts to the bottom of L1. That must have taken some doing. At the same time he was a young manager with us and not used to the model where he doesn’t get to choose players.

I wish him well and other than when they play us would like him to have success. I credit him with assisting in the development of some players who became important for us.

I can’t think of any manager we have ever had that I would snipe at in the way you do Heckingbottom. Even crazy Morais was entertaining in his own way and i hope though doubt that he will prosper.

Not everything is black and white. If we get relegated the blame will be with the plan not Daniel at the same time when Daniel picks a crazy side like he did on Saturday he isn’t exempt from criticism. It doesn’t mean that anyone wants him to leave but it was clear even before we kicked off that selection was odd.

Cheers you have more Patience than me for that sorta thing. There’s some around the time of the Roberts sale where I said that Hecky keeping us up would be a minor miracle. To be honest when we sold the spine of the team as we have now it doesn’t make predicting a hard season particularly difficult. Anything can happen and I think we will have an interesting season but it’s naive to think it’s going to be anything but hard to keep us up.
