    I can remember making bows and arrows from pieces of cane and a piece if string.

    Wasna exactly the Golden Shot and possibly could have done a lot of damage to someones eye if it went wrong. But you didna think it out in they days.

    Yes, stick or cane whittled down with a point at one end. Cross cut in other end for a flight and it was thrown by rolling a piece of string round / near pointed end. Big chuck, remembering to keep hold of string, and off she went.

    Basic upgrade was to use a tapped on nail for the point.

    Christ, I've just realised I must be bloody old nar!
