I remember Luke Steele getting red carded early on at Newcastle, for being quite close to Peter Lovenkrands as he performed an inverted pike. With tuck.
No recollection of that either? Think it's 04-14 that decade didn't happen which I suppose makes me 37. Every cloud....
Listened to Taggarts Undrthecosh again other day. When got sent off in consecutive games and at Luton went into the changing rooms post red card and Viv Anderson had been sent off moments earlier. GT said Viv was sat there with head in hands...... looked up and saw GT and said "what the **** are you doing here?" Pmsl
Taggart didnt play against Liverpool. We sold him.well before that. Morgan Barnard and Sheridan were the 3.
It was the game where he got sent off and David preece had to come on. I think we lost about 6 nil in the end. After the game the referee said that you dont have to make contact for it to be a red card. If the player has to jump over you it counts
Always remember the Regan incident. Signed from Everton with a lot of fans looking forward to his debut My lad and myself were on the West Stand lower concourse for that game and couldn't believe what we saw. As the opposition player moved forward with the ball, Carl lurched forward with both feet and " crunched" their player. He was very lucky not to end up with a broken ankle. See he played for quite a number of clubs retiring in 2013 after ten games with Bury FC.
Didn’t Hammill get sent off in our promotion season away at Bury in a 0-0 draw or have I made that up? 15/16 season.
I was there that day and you could see it was a dive as clear as day, even where we were up in the gods at the other end of the ground. Apparently the ref's justification was that contact wasn't necessary, and that Steele had "interfered with Lovenkrands' momentum" (or words to that effect).
Yes and if my memory is right it looked to everyone on the planet like the ref had shown the red card to Hutchinson. Hammill never actually had a card aimed in his direction at all
Bloody ell my memory is shot!!!!! Talking of which Cooper had a terrible reputation for his discipine record but i genuinely can't recall a red card. At that time 88-91ish I never missed a match either home or away.
De Silva and Ehiogh (RIP) was it getting sent off the day the Thug struck. Angus MacDonald and Leon Clarke both getting sent off - both head clashes weren’t they?
In Bobby's defence, I don't think that photo does him justice. Lovenkrands is going to the right of goal if I remember right, so Bobby would be covering the goal
