I agree, it is more complex. And obviously without knowing the full facts and business plans of each. We can only guess at their intentions.
I don't know much about the park issue so I may be wrong but I can't see what the Highways Agency have to do with it...other than supporting the Council case for getting rid of the park. The Plan is BMBC's own plan supported by Officers of the council...and approved at Cttee by Barnsley Labour Party Cttee Members...probably unanimously ( although I am guessing at that tbh)
Because they didn't buy it to make money they bought it to protect Barnsley football club for the public of Barnsley.
Just can’t see that TBH, lots of sabre rattling going on at minute and there will be some who will stop going, but not 70/80% of them. History of Football shows that.
Why do they have a problem with the lease all of a sudden the lease was in place when they agreed to buy the club ( they still haven't paid for it btw) the facts are the 80% mob bought the club and haven't paid for it nearly four years later said they'd buy the ground in due course at an agreed price but haven't. They seem to be prepared to use any excuse to avoid paying what they've agreed for Barnsley FC out of their own pockets while at the same time buying football clubs all over Europe. I don't know what their intentions are towards BFC but their conduct from day one doesn't exactly inspire confidence. As far as Rotherham are concerned they are a totally different case to BFC they have a chairman who spent and continues to spend his own money investing in the club the 80% mob have shown absolutely no sign of doing the same. Why do you think the council are holding on to the ground? It's the 80% mob that are holding up their purchase of the ground they are the ones coming up with vague reasons why they won't progress the deal without actually producing and publishing documentary evidence of the reasons. The council quite rightly aren't going to lose council tax payers money on this they will want at least to recoup their outlay and as a council tax payer in Barnsley I have no argument with that. The only people not paying what they owe and not progressing the sale of the ground are the 80% mob they are the ones who keep finding reasons the stall. They'd have us believe they agreed the deal to buy the club and later the ground and all these issues they've come up with since were unknown to them when they signed the deal. If that's true rather than taking legal action against the Crynes and the council the really ought to be looking at their advisors and legal team. BTW I don't believe it's true I just believe they want the club and ground on the cheap and will try anything to get it, read this from the guy who introduced Conway and co to PC https://boards.footymad.net/showthread.php?t=38260834 Thats the kind of person (Conway) whose making decisions on the future of BFC is.
Because it’s stopping these owners shutting up shop and building a housing estate, supermarket, hotel or whatever else.
Alexander Jarvis is no saint either for balance, quick google brings up loads about him, found this from Rochdale forum interesting. https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/rochdale/forum/275035/alexander-jarvis-is-now-trying....../
The council and the Crynes have both said they are prepared to sell Oakwell its the 80% mob that won't buy it as they've quite clearly stated.
the landlord have issued the tenant advisory instructions which the tenant has chosen to ignore for financial reasons. That’s fine but when the lease ends they will undoubtedly be legally obliged to return the ground in the same state they received it in minus a consideration for wear and tear. Every commercial agreement I’ve ever seen has that covenant.
not sure how valuable the land would be I’m the current climate but our second point is definitely right.
150 000 a year ( or rather 75 00 a year as they only own half) is neither here or there though in the great scheme of things. And that's all they get for the ground. If they were getting the 2 million a year that Derby County owe for Pride Park then maybe them you'd expect the owners of the ground to have sone maintenance responsibility
They'd never just shut up shop because the club's league share is worth money. They might sell up but they'd never just close the doors or they'd be turning away millions of pounds.
It's nowt to do with The Highway Agency. HA are responsible for the strategic road network; a glorified cart track into Barnsley is hardly strategic. https://assets.publishing.service.g...file/991099/Network_management_03-03-2021.pdf
Tell me about it. I’ve been stuck in the supermarket for months after not paying for what’s in my trolley. I keep tell them I will once I get it home but they won’t budge. Disgrace.
