Both a Hill and then Flicker made fundamental mistakes, none bigger than the constant ignorance towards Hassell.

I accept that Bobby probably can't get up and down the wing as an overlapping full back, but he can definitely play at centre half or defensive midfielder just sat in front of back 4. Danny sees this immediately, plays him and he has a stormer.

Danny also sees Nyatanga as a stronger left back, plays him and he too has a solid game.

Mickey Mellon did not see this in his 3 game tenure, or maybe he did but decided to continue to play players not up to their jobs?

Make no bones about this, Danny is calling all the shots.......he knows what team structure he needs and what players will fit that structure. You can take Hill and Flitcrofts managerial ability, multiply it by 1000 add on yer birthday. That's how much better Danny Wilson is as a manager.

While Hill was here, Bobby never said a bad thing about him publicly. I was at his evening at the Lamproom and he never criticised Hill even when asked about his (Bobby's) position at the club.

However, when Hill had left, I was at a meeting in the Legends suite, and Bobby said that Hill had taken him into the office and asked if he was after his job.

It seems Hill, and maybe Flicker, were very insecure, and saw Bobby as a threat because of his popularity.

Simon Davey was slated for playing Bobby as a holding midfielder personally I think hes more at home there than playing fullback.

Their refusal to play him only contributed to his popularity.

What's even more strange is that when both were forced to include him, he played well and the team did better as a result.

I urge anyone who didn't attend yesterday to watch the first half back on Player, should the club upload it.

Bossed it. At 33. With no pace/legs. Lowest paid player at the club.

    Sir Bobby indeed.

Cheers fella. All the best to you and yours too.

Onwards and upwards in the new year. With Sir Bob back in his rightful place.

I get all that (although given the Don was trying to get Hill sacked in the Summer of 2012 you can't really blame him for being paranoid, I would be if my boss wanted rid).

But nothing's convinced me that either of them (plus Mellon) didn't pick him purely based on not liking him. That doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't they pick someone who they thought would improve the team, their chance of winning, and consequently improve their reputation?

What, they said 'Bobby, you are much better than what we have but we don't like you so we're not going to play you because we don't like you, even though it's going to cost us our jobs?'

As I heard they made it clear they didn't rate him the first time they met him

Until this season I would never have believed that a manager would drop his highly rated goalkeeper in favour of his 40 odd year old best friend who had started only 13 games in the last 6 years

Things will all come out eventually mate, but some of what you have said is very close to the truth, except they didnt think they would lose their jobs .

Bang on Supertyke.......selection policy stunk of favouritism.

The more I contrast and compare what we had versus what we have/will get from Danny, makes me realise how truly poor these boys were at managing. How did Flicker manage that miracle last season?
