I cant see me or any of my mates going. Its a long trip to Wembley to see a club that most on here only take a casual interst in(at best). If it was somewhere closer(like maybe Old Trafford), I think a few more would consider it. I do wish them good luck though(as i do with all the local clubs). It has highlighted a point though. There are more than a few on here that like to follow the local non league scene. Would it worth having a sub forum for discussing the local clubs? That way, if you have an interest you can discuss it in there.
I wish them good luck, but its only a passing interest. My lad plays for SLA under 14s, and he, and most of his team mates have been together since under 6s. But ask any of the coaching staff and parents, and we're still Barugh JFC. The creation of the club was basically a buyout of the whole Barugh JFC set up, with the addition of the first team set up. New club colours, kits happened overnight, but there is a strong feeling of resentment outside of the first team set up. Lots of people, parents put a lot of money into the junior set up, not just subs, but fundraising, kit sponsorship, buying training gear and so on. No acknowledgement of this by the new "owner", beforehand or since. We feel a bit like a junior football version of AFC Wimbledon after the MK Dons change. I hope they win the vase, it's great for the area and credit to those players if they do, but even from within, i don't have any real affinity for the "club". Up the Barugh.
When they were first admitted to the NCEL at the start of the 2013/14 season ahead of Penistone Church they branded themselves "the most hated club in non-league football". Just sayin' like! Wonder how long it will be before Mr.Moneybags ditches "Shaw Lane" and they become "AFC Aquaforce".
Can't stand anything Aquaforce do, fiddled there way up through leagues when ground clearly wasn't ready, having to play cup matches away from shaw lane due to pich being unplayable. Hope they get trounced in next round. 2 proper local teams playing each other on Wednesday night, Penistone Church v Athersley Rec. Both been run proper without chucking silly money at local football.
Wouldn't go but good luck to them, BFC and North Gawber for me. Up the Reds/Gawber! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wouldn't watch any team from Barnsley in the FA Vase unless it was a) Worsbrough Bridge cos I'm a brigger or b) Some of my family/mates were playing. So Athersley Rec, Wombwell, Dodworth, Hoyland, Aquaforce (Do they actually represent any local area?) or whoever - no I wouldn't go,
