I regularly use Shaw's for fish and chips, it's not often that I finish it, there's more than enough food in one portion, Price is ok, there's nowhere cheap nowadays.
Could say the same about other establishments. There was a Chinese restaurant in Darton till about 4 years ago. Served good food at a decent price but the environment was basic. People tended to go to the China Court in Mapplewell which although a bit faded looked flashier. Food is expensive and a bit plastic but most people lap it up. The better food outlet in Darton has since closed. For me its about the food - the imagery is not important. For others I think the 'look' of a place is more important than the food.
That's exactly how I see it. I'm eating the chips not the wallpaper. Agree about china court too, bang average but popular because it looks a bit fancy. In darfield there are two Indians within a few hundred yards one is very flash the other low budget. I know which one does the better food and it's not even a close competition
I've been to the flash one a while ago and at the time they couldn't do me a chapatti. Dont know if they've changed but if an Indian doesn't do Indian food what's the point?
