Well before the Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire was created Barnsley was in the West Riding of Yorkshire.
Think the Rising Sun ale affected you coz Flemming was primarily a right back who often play at centre back, and latterly as a sweeper ( a good un as well)
Gary Fleming never played left back for Barnsley, not one game. He spent his entire professional club and international career as a right back or sweeper.
It must be me that's wrong then lads I would swear he played majority of games at left back . Mark Robinson , Viv Anderson and Eaden all right backs before him . Granted he played sweeper or part of back three but I'm positive the majority of his games was at left full back in a back four of eaden, bishop/Davis, taggart and Fleming
It is. Fleming played right back, initially, for us. Just as he did for Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Northern Ireland. When Eaden & Robinson started playing right wing back, they was partnered by Owen Archdeacon at left wing back (Glyn Snodin & Darren Sheridan both played there, too). Fleming moved to sweeper behind Taggart and either Bishop or Davis. Oh, and Viv Anderson never played right back for us. He only played at centre half.
