All those that are held up as heroes should be fecked off, it does not set a good example for youngsters does it ? Or do you think your son/daughter should aspire to be like a woman beater or rapist?
I would. Like Ive said before there's a line of who's wages I can accept I contribute to. King is beyond that.
That makes two of us DB. I hate them like no other club and I put them way above Wednesday, Leeds and Liverpool. I hated them before the Morgan incident but that, the reaction of the club and their fans to the incident, some of their managers and the morons giving the elbow gesture at our last game with them just took my hatred of them to another level. I truly hate and despise them as a club.
Very emotive but there are a multitude of offences mentioned on this thread. Do you think Mellis should be banned from football? Or Etuhu? Maybe the problem is with society holding footballers up as heroes regardless of their past? I would teach my child about the man, not the footballer. Clubs need to make their own decision on whether to employ such people but I personally have no problem with the rehabilitation of offenders by allowing them to gain employment and football is just employment, a career. And there are bad uns in all sorts of industries. Employment can rehabilitate in itself, talking in a general sense here not just football. Maybe ex offenders should only be allowed to earn minimum wage, that would do it. Just to be clear I think King is a lovely person and am glad he isn't employed by us.
To be fair one of my blunts mates says he's not going to go whilst King is on the books. He's really upset that they've signed him. It's a difficult one, I know I'd be very disappointed (to put it mildly) if we signed someone with King's history, but whether it would be enough for me to boycott games (considering I only get to 3 or 4 a season anyway!), well I'm not sure.
Spoke to half a dozen blunts in the local yesterday evening, all of which were totally pissed with the signing. A couple said they would boycott matches, which got me thinking...would I do the same if we had signed him? I doubt it, other than letting the club know your feelings what can you do?
Weren't they both arrested and cautioned? And he was the one put in hospital? Slightly different, Mark.
This Marlon King guy is a relatively young guy that has had loads of money and praise thrown at him from an early age. He has got an edge to him like all/most footballers have to have so they are able to succeed..........he's also a striker so that edge is usually even bigger than your average footballer We, the supporters of football, create these monster invincible personalities..........so we will just now have to live with it Slightly off the subject..........Blunts bring in a player that hasn't got a club and is well past his sell by date........so where's the money Mr Sheik Ababooobooo!!! ???
King was on alot of cash at Birmingham. Yeah he was a free agent but to drop a league he must be on a fair wedge there. The transfer window is shut which explains the lack of signings. As for loans no point bringing in too many when there is no guarantee Weir will be there for long, which would leave a new man trying to get rid of the players the former manager brought in.
From wiki... While on loan to Hull City, King was alleged to have headbutted teammate Dean Windass in a casino in Scarborough. Hull City stated that the matter had been dealt with internally, and both players remained with the club.[56] Windass later described the incident as a "storm in a teacup". King has convictions for 14 offences, dating from 1997.[57][58] He received fines, driving bans, community service sentences, a rehabilitation order and orders to pay compensation on convictions including: theft from a person and from a car, criminal damage, and attempting to obtain property by deception; fraudulent use of vehicle licence document, driving without insurance, speeding, drink driving; a wounding incident while playing amateur football, and two cases involving assault of young women rejecting his advances in the Soho area of London. Two cases led to imprisonment. In May 2002 he received an eighteen-month prison sentence for receiving stolen goods, in relation to a BMW convertible that he was found driving. He was found not guilty of a charge of assaulting a police officer in a related case. His solicitor commented that "His reputation will be tarnished forever, whatever success he achieves, he'll always be referred to in a Tyson-esque way as someone who has had a criminal past and that is a considerable penalty."[59][60] Gillingham continued to pay his salary while he was in jail, and supported in his appeal, which resulted in the sentence being reduced to nine months, and he was released on licence after five months, returning to the Gillingham team within two days of his release.[61] In December 2008, again in the Soho area, King was arrested on suspicion of punching a 20 year-old female university student in the face, causing a broken nose and split lip for which she was treated in hospital. He was later convicted of sexual assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and sentenced to 18 months in prison and placed on the Sex Offender Register for seven years.[2] Wigan Athletic immediately initiated the cancellation of his contract.[19] King’s agent, Tony Finnigan, said he was confident that his client would find a club on his release, which was on 29 July 2010,[62] and accused the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) of failing to offer support. Gordon Taylor, the chief executive of the PFA, said that the PFA did not represent players when they have broken the law and been convicted on non-footballing matters. It would support members with anger management or other issues if approached but no approach had been made by King.[16] After his release, he made an appeal against the conviction which was unsuccessful.[63] King was arrested and bailed in April 2013 after a car crash which left one man seriously injured.[64] On 30 July 2013, he was arrested in connection to a hit-and-run incident which had left a man injured.[65]
