It sounds worse when you say under 25s are banned compared to when I’ve seen myself pubs saying over 21s only. I suspect that both are wrong though.
I'm sure a pub somewhere banned people with tattoos on the grounds that all fights they'd had to deal with involved men with tattoos. They also proved it worked with no disturbances observed following the banning.
This kind of stuff has started happening round here as well. It's 100% the wrong way to deal with it, but the issue as far as I can tell is that with the clubs and late night bars in the centre of cities still closed, kids have found other places to go and those other places aren't necessarily up for it or equipped to deal with the consequences. I feel for them, but to be honest it isn't something that's hugely difficult to deal with if you value safety over profit. They should have nipped it in the bud to begin with.
Pretty sure it goes against the Equality Act 2010 - Age Discrimination In Services? Unless there’s something in there to loophole it. Back when I used to manage private club events I remember one particular club that tried to offer cheaper entry rates to girls to get more of them in the clubs and had to change it because of complaints relating to similar discrimination acts, doesn’t matter if it’s public or private it still contravenes the law
I do not think its fair that I am not allowed to book an holiday with club 18 to 30 , I might be twice the age but it is blatant discrimination !
Personally if I ran a pub I would just ban the trouble makers, every one else would be welcome regardless of their age.
Those other way of looking at it is, does it really matter, it’s not like it will be the only pub. Thinking back to ‘my days’ we ‘banned‘ ourselves because we rarely went into a pub where there was anybody over say thirty ( you know where they were really old )
