Wasted a big chunk of my teenage years in Microfun - both at Peel Street and the original site under where the Alambra is now.

EGS and Casa Disco were great for the old vinyl.

Not that I know anything about it, but the stall on the outdoor market that sold magazines - including porn to kids.

Got my first football boots at Suggs sports :)
Loved the Christmas Grotto at Butterfields - think the Co-op had a good one as well

Coppered up for first ever album in Casa Disco - Ramones It's Alive.

Remember another record shop a bit lower down - Scene and Heard.

Bought punk clobber at Rock Bottom at town end before there was a roundabout there.

Then downstairs in No 7 drinking cans and feeding that juke box.

    Good times.

Didn't it start off in the Upper Charter arcade and finish off in the Alhambra?

I hate threads like this

Suggs was as you say upstairs in the market. Midwood sports was across from the library.

But Don Valley sports was where the Alhambra is but , and this is why I hate these threads , what was it called before that ?. It was a mans name and I'm sure it's in use or more famous for something else.

    Mi brains gooin ;)

Keegan Sports was on Doncaster Road.

Micro fun and Casadisco bring back some memories. There was EGS too for music.

Didn't we have a Zodiac Toys too, near the Mermaid chippy?

It's all pound shops, charity stores and ecigs now :(

Re: best Pie and peas for me in Tarn were

I bought my first record there. Pop Musik by M. Not many people remember that shop. I seem to recall a psychedelic swirly logo on the carrier bag.

In the 80's I bought most of my records in Michaels, upstairs in the market building, opposite Jack Fulton. Indeed, I was in there one day and came across a 12" single by All About Eve that I wanted. Only 50p too. I didn't have any money on me, so I hid it at the back of the rack and went back later. Alas, it had gone. The next day at college I turned up to registration only for the bloke who sat next to me, who started this ruddy thread, to tell me that he found a right bargain in Michael's records the day before, right at the back of the rack...

Re: best Pie and peas for me in Tarn were

Midwoods sports shop on Shambles Street, Field sports on Peel St. A real gem was the little tobacconist at the top of Regent St, straight out of Dickens, my first gaffer used to send me there to pick up his special blend of pipe baccy that they made up from all different varieties kept in jars.
Does anyone remember the name of the motorcycle dealer on Doncaster Rd, next to Ron Daley...George ? if I remember rightly

another interesting one from memory was Fletcher and Sharps.
