That's what i want to know too. There's a very weird agenda here by him to make everyone out to being awful people
I’m guessing it’s in reaction to a number of reaction posts on here. I think we’re all on the side of a return to white shorts, but we have worn red before. One season doesn’t really matter, but the way JAQ has been vilified for the decision seems a bit OTT. In my opinion it was a clumsy decision directed at gaining news articles and clicks. She’s not trying to change the club.
Imo changing the kit is changing the club. We don't have much that is our identity but the kit is the main thing and changing that on a whim to suit her own personal opinions and wants is a poor move if you ask me. Being rich doesn't give her that right
We’ve worn red shorts before. The socks change all the time. The shirt is the longest item that has been same colour. Although even that had had differing amounts of red. I’m not sure the shorts are a clubs identity.
We've worn red shorts once in 137 years. No idea why we wore them that year but it's once in 137 years. JAQ has taken over the kits and it's now two in two with comments from her essentially saying it's a permanent change. That's just wrongly her having money doesn't give her that right. Of course shorts are our identity. Red shirt, white shorts. Ask anyone what Barnsley play in and they'll tell you that, they won't say 'red shirts and a random pair of shorts' because the shorts are part of the identity. "We're the red and white army" is a song the ponty end sings.
So they did change then… what was our identity that year? Did we become a different club for the year? Will you or I change the way we watch our team because of a pair of shorts, or because our socks are plain and not hooped? What was our identity the shaw carpets year when the red shirt became red and white? What did the “red army” shout last year? You’re starting to sound like Tommy Robinson. Ok maybe too far, but you get the point?
Sorry I meant we wore them once in our history (the Lyons one) until Julie decided to change them last season
I'd suggest there's many many other positive ways in gaining news and clicks, changing the clubs colours and peeing people off isn't really how you win votes.
I didn’t say it was. However she is on point with the promotion of the women’s game. As I’ve said previously, I’m not sure she realised the affect changing the colour of a pair of shorts for a season would have upon our fanbase. She’s not exactly “changed the clubs colours” though.
As has been repeatedly explained, it isn't just for a season and quite literally by definition of the words she has changed the clubs colours
She has changed the colours though, we play in Red white red, not all red a completely unnecessary move. It's also been stated on here on numerous occasions that the women did not request white shorts, how do Leeds utd women all white, Man utd women white shorts and Arsenal women white shorts cope? We were told the stars were part of a nod to the 80s kit fair do's but here they are again, it's purely been a fashion experiment that's gone wrong.
I was only joining in adding my bits to your list. Anyway sat in car park waiting for them to open the gates, kit looked great, we will score lots of goals this season and we have some quality players. You reds.
Imagine the reaction at Old Trafford if they wore red shorts. Or at Liverpool if they wore white. I'm sure there was positive intent behind the decision but also that it was was ill judged. Unfortunately there are several examples of the latter in recent times. I hope the Fan Advisory Group will help prevent more.
Surely the board as a whole are responsible for the kit? Seems unlikely that a minor shareholder would make a big decision on their own. Don’t get me wrong I don’t doubt she has been at the forefront, just find hard to believe she didn’t have to get the rest of the board to sign off.
She probably did but she has claimed to be the driving force behind the kits designs with kidsuper and she has done an interview in which she claims responsibility
She gets dog's abuse on social media for everything else wrong with the club, so possibly took another one for the team.
Again, for more than half their history Liverpool wore white shorts. They only changed in the 1960s when Shankly decided all red would make the players look taller, more imposing and because he wanted to go with a single colour like Real Madrid.
