I'd fancy a proper trial first. Not condoning any of the alleged actions, but I reckon The Mail would want the same for me and I haven't ****** any kids and no plans for doing so.

I've noticed with the British press that they add all the sentences up to make the headline look more sensational, when in fact that each person's sentence should be that long.

There is too much of a revolving door / slap-on-the-wrist sentencing over here in the USA, but from time to time people get Life without the possibility of parole (sometimes renegotiated down then line when people have forgotten, 900 years, Life + 10 years, etc.

So do I, but there are certain cases where it's applied where I find it pretty hard to feel sorry for those convicted...

They would be in prison for 10 years anyway, appealing their sentence before even the possibility of the chair. Just like in the States. Anyway I guess prison is not a bed of roses for these kind of criminals, they would have to take a big jar of Vaseline with them if they weren't killed by the others. The Wardens would probably turn a blind eye. So probably it would be solitary for them. Just guessing, never been there yet.

Yes a horrible crime............and one that is mostly generated by means of how we are currently communicating - the internet.

But no I wouldn't gas them......that's on the slippery slope to nowhere..........because if we gassed them then this would open the door for some people to start shouting that we should be gassing other groups - for example the group that's constantly being spoken about on here recently, migrants.
And what we end up with is something that resembles Hitlers Germany.

What I would do in cases like this is introduce sentencing with 'Hard Labour'.

Which would mean such as - no comforts within their prison cells and chaining both legs together and making them work outside in all weathers doing work like digging ditches, working in the fields, picking litter up, cleaning drains.

It would be a massive shock to their system - basically because proper hard labour is generally not found in the workforce anymore - that is to say, no one these days is used to actual hard physical labour.
If they were given that sentence year on year - given the choice, they would probably prefer to be gassed.

If any of us got done today for football violence, it was a first offence, caught slinging one punch, it'd be a 12-24 month sentence. Worlds gone mad
