RE: The present badge is outdated and shows a lack of insight by the club Without doubt that would be the shittest badge in the history of **** badges. Why not have a crown and anchor on the forearm of the long sleeve shirt. How tacky
EDIT: In response to Nudger, obviously. And no one listened before because it's a **** idea. Do you really think calling us the Yorkshire Tykes would give some in Harrowgate a sense of connection with the club? They'd think we were just tossers.
Yorkshire Tykes would give some in Harrogate a sense of connection Well talking about Harrogate................why did they not call it Harrogate Tea ??? I was talking to someone from Derbyshire a few years ago and this bloke is associated with a Yorkshire brand name (not the tea brand) I dont know a thing about marketing but this guy did and he said to me "if yer put Yorkshire on anything it will sell because the people of Yorkshire are very very proud and loyal to the place they come from in comparrison to other places in the country" We have got the nickname TYKES.............so why not add Yorkshire to that ??? I cannot see any problem in doing this What it really needs is for the club to appoint a marketing company to carry out research into the branding of Barnsley Football Club
wasn't the badge changed to the current one after being took over by the council? (i.e. after admin?) probs part of the deal if thats true.
And the nickname 'REDS' is associated with a shed load of football clubs including Liverpool and Man united ...........yet there is only one........TYKES......... So why keep diluting the name of Barnsley FC by calling ourselves the 'REDS' (which even PC did in his latest letter)........why not strife to be something that stands out from a bunch of others We are the..........TYKES !!! By the way Teletex uses the name Tykes because they understand that the name signifies Barnsley FC and no other club
RE: Yorkshire Tykes would give some in Harrogate a sense of connection The name Tyke refers to anyone from Yorkshire - surely we want to draw attention to the fact that we are from Barnsley first and Yorkshire second. The only time the name of the county should appear on the badge is if the club is the only one in that county
That was my first observation, mate. I think it looks cracking though, especially with the 1887 at the bottom.
That should be 'strive'.........not 'strife' Strange how things look when you come back to read them a second time
