RE: Simple fact is that the lad has held us to ransom for the last 2 close seasons He was ready to sign for the same pay as last year. "Money wasn't the issue, I turned down an extra £500 from another club because I wanted to stay." Doesn't sound that way
RE: Simple fact is that the lad has held us to ransom for the last 2 close seasons No lad had a timescale to make his mind up, which he took BUT the chairman cut that timescale short!!! We could quickly see the strong team morale collapse if this continues.
He would say that... I am sure they did want him back but why didn't he just sign when he could. He has had ages and has been haggling etc and we have to draw the line somewhere.
RE: What a mad scenario the deadline was other friday so he went 12 DAYS up to today over the four weeks he had to make up his mind. good ridance to bad rubbish.
'kin 'ell Thought you'd made that up to begin with. Don't know what to say really except he's easily had long enough to make his mind up about what to do so I have little sympathy. We need a replacement though. Time to get our fingers out me thinks.
So , this year we've lost Burns , Vaughan , Scarsella , Carbon , Conlon , McPhail , Shuker and , possibly , Colgan and Filnders from the payroll . We've got Coulson coming in . Does this mean we'll bring in a few new faces as replacements , or will we go with what we've got ?
Why didn't he just sign straight away?? If he was happy to sign on like he said, he should have signed straight away. Sounds to me like his agent has messed up. All this "linked to other clubs" was probably an effort to get BFC to up the offer.... I think the club were right to stand there ground - he had plenty of time to sign.
If that's the case, and the club are so happy to let him go... ... then I can only hope there is a strategy afoot that none of us know about.
From what i can see only Reid signed in the timescale!!! Double standards. We need Shukes - especially with the players we have sugned until now - **** all! Sheps is cutting his nose off to spite his face. I heard there was a rift between shukes and shep so i can see whats happened. At this rate were gonna be kicking off with 8 first teamers and the reserves.
You've hit the nail on the head Shuker should be quite happy being presented with this opportunity to pick up the additional £25 000 per year ( not to mention a healthy signing on fee ) at this other club , then .
RE: From todays Star My worry is that, according to the official site last week, Shuker was all set to sign. Why publish that and then withdraw the offer? Presumably there had been contact between Shuker, his agent, GS, and AR, and things must have looked okay.
From the other day... 'Shuker Could Stay At Oakwell' http://www.barnsley.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=22715 hardly sounds as if the club weren't in communication with Shuker does it?
RE: If that's the case, and the club are so happy to let him go... So as it stands, we are going into what is most probably the hardest Championship for years with a far worse squad than last season........ :-|
Not before time, some Chairmen wouldnt have the bottle Dont Panic .. Dont Panic.. They dont like it up em Mr S.......
Hey It's Not All Bad.... yes we have lost two good midfield players with plenty of experience like Shuker and Mcphail (and not replaced experienced Burns). But we still have Nix, Coulson, Mcpartland etc to take their places.
