RE: Was he playing in the final key games of the season?? that has to be the most pathetic statement that i have ever seen on a message board, what you are saying is that the previos 46 games where not key to where we finished the season (lol) (lol)
True. I'm sure we'll find someone to replace him. My Dad has a border collie that likes chasing balls, nipping at people's ankles and running at people at high speed. He also can't cross a ball and his mish-mash of clumsy, high speed jinx and the occassional lucky strike is sometimes mistaken for 'skill'. He should do.
Why thank you! Sorry I dont really rate Shuker, and that fact that I missed all his good games.
I cant wait for the next guy that everyone loves , and that I dont rate. Its gonna be great.

He never got the ball in the box. Also if we had had someone to replace him after Christmas we would have got promoted automatically.
eh! We won 3-1 at Huddersfield without him , and we did OK against Swansea in the final without him.
Other than that you are correct, there will be a gaping hole on the subs bench that we need to fill.

Horn, Joyce, Chambers Glavin, Banks, McCarthy, Evans, Parker, Aylott, McHale & Barrowclough. Not good enough for the second tier! They would come straight back down, wouldn't they. No. they finished SIXTH. Fans 25 years ago weren't moaning about new signings. They went down to Oakwell in their numbers and gave their support. The dire predictions on here get right up my nose.
But you try and tell the young people of today that..... ANd you get shot at from all directions - I tried the same point last week Having said that - I think in general that was a better team than the current one. But the current one isnt that bad - and I dont think the gap between 3rd and 2nd divisions is that great
Uses tricks to get past people... pushes it past and runs for 4 yards if he gets away its a bonus !!!
Cobblers I was one of those fans 25 years ago and that team was absolutely outstanding going 28 games unbeaten and having about 8 full internationals on the books. We looked forward to the following season with real optimism although 6th surpassed even our expectations. No way were we expecting that team to get relegated with the likes of Banks,Evans, Glavin,Aylott,McCrathy all being selected for the Division 3 team of the year. Compare that to this season where we scraped up by the skin of our teeth and have released a third of our squad without replacing any. Absolutely no comparison whatsover.
At last Someone who remembers it like it actually was rather than twisting it to meet their needs. No one was expecting relegation from that side. No one.
How do you know? There was no BBS of gloom in them days OK OK the team we had that time was significantly better than our current one - that is without question. I doubt anyone who has seen both will disagree. A Better comparison is the one with the awful team that came down a few years ago. They were only just bad enough to go down - just 2 more points would have done the trick. And they struggled in the 3rd Division. The side we have now is significantly better than that awful side. Yes I know we need some more players, but I dont think the current squad is so bad we will be anchored at the bottom like Sunderland were in the prem last year. Still time for some signings anyway - but as has been said before no point signing the wrong players or players on the wrong terms. We tried that and it didnt work
I agree In fact , the only player most of us had any doubts over at that time ended up having an outstanding season. I give you Trevor Aylott , at times cumbersome and slow during the 1980/81 season , but as good a target man as you could find anywhere in the country during 1981/82 .
