Yep, though the only one I've seen reported is a bid for Sibbick, and a randome tweet (therefore no vouching for it's credibility) suggested that it was 125k that was offered. So, not exactly in the too good to refuse category.
Then you need Championship quality players prepared to slum it for a season in League 1. The quality needs to remain the same to get maximum value out of the signings. That's why Davies, Hourihane, Scowen and Winnall were such good signings. Later Mawson, Roberts and Watkins.
Khaled said we would like to bring in between 1-3. From what i can gather 2 central mi-fielders... different to what we already have.. And seeing Woodrow is out a striker.. And talked of mistake being made.. Obbi?
But if we hadn't turned down offers and then sold the players, the fans would've said we've already given up (which it looks like we may have, anyway). It's a lose-lose decision.
We're in a very tough position. Cash poor, failing players, suppressed transfer market, relegation staring us in the face. The first duty of the owners is to safeguard the club through their actions. I'd hope that meant that reasonable offers were considered. And given that their whole alleged "plan" is to sell players to reinvest and get better ones.... they are going to have to take some offers at some point.
No idea who's available, but by the end of the window, there'll be clubs who operate on similar or lower budgets as us, either in the Championship and League 1, who have made signings that make us wonder why we didn't go in for them.
I cant see us getting thrashed to the end of the season, not with this guys tactics so far, if we don`t have a go at some point he aint giving us a chance. Few 6 pointers coming up but not trying to lose them isn`t the way to go Poya.
He's played as many games as Obbi Oulare in the last 12 years. Plus his wages would be out of our range
I agree. Said before but we only need 2 or 3 players this month. An experienced midfielder with a few hundred EFL games and a striker who knows where the net is. It won't happen as he's deemed old with no resale value but I would get Jermaine Defoe in for the rest of this season. He's got league 1 sides after him with Oxford seen as the favourites.
Here's a couple who are surely within our finances and are rumoured to be possibly available for transfer. Both have been connected with us before. Both are midfielders. Both are 26 years old, so young enough to have future mileage, but experienced enough to add something. The first is Kyle Dempsey from Gillingham, who is club captain there. I could see him playing a central midfield role, possibly the holding role we need. His only transfer fee is recorded as £290k, the others having been frees. He's combative, all-action and I would think we could afford a transfer fee and his wages. The second is Scott Fraser from Ipswich Town, who is more of a 'number ten,' but has fallen down the pecking order with the insane number of new signings the Tractor Boys have made. We were after him from MKD in the summer, but he chose Ipswich instead. He is rumoured to be interested in a transfer away at the moment. I noticed that Cardiff City won the race to sign Tommy Doyle on loan from Manchester City, who would have fitted our bill for a holding midfielder very well, but, if you don't buy a ticket ..... Surely we can afford one of either Dempsey (much the preferred), or Fraser. Are the board even in for players like this, who would fit our financial constraints? If not, why not?
