RE: Dyer AND Sheron

I never cease to be amazed by some of the ABSOLUTE feckING B*ll*cks that people post on here

    Just checked Dyer's stats on soccerbase - 149(32) - 57 in League, 5(2) -3 in FA Cup

Very slightly under 1 in 3 - we would kill for a striker with that sort of record now

    For a comparison Odejayi's stats are 23(16) - 3 in League and 3(2) 1 in FA Cup

Exactly 1 in 11 - at the rate it will take him 660 games to equal Dyer's record or about 14 seasons

Dyer scored 20 goals in a rubbish side that got relegated

    A fantastic effort.

Show me a list of strikers who've done that.

Hendry said he was for the future......

...so we're still waiting for the messiah to take us back to the promised land of the prem - maybe as our MANAGER? : (doh)

Sheron's record stands up to a lot of other strikers we have had

    Ferenczi - 39(14) - 11 goals

    Sheron 114 (38) - 33 goals

very similar strike rates yet Ferenczi is made out to be a legend and Sheron is always slated when his name comes up

    Interesting....

Sheron also played a lot of games in midfield.

I'd have him over KO any time.

If he was so flipping good

Why were there never ever ever any transfer rumours about someone trying to sign him?

Why did he do nothing with his career after he left us - Watford benched him after a season at the wrong end of the league and then got rid (4 free transfers in one season - is surely some kind of record!)

Best of a bad bunch, is not the sort of title I would ever stive for. He was the dross that we were left with once the talent had left

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Now I see, you're taking the piss

Mike Sheron = £1.5 million + high wages

Ferenczi nowhere near and less than half the wages I'd bet

Only reason he's a hero is he kept us up the season before last. What did Sheron achieve? ... a better goals per game ratio than Dyer

    Yeah OK

For 2 seasons his goals per game ratio was worse than Sheron, and the fans hated Sheron. They liked Dyer cos he ran a lot, and we all know the Barnsley crowd rate effort above anything.

I hated Dyer's style of play. He could (and regularly did) receive the ball with his back to goal, run 50 yards back towards his own goal being harried by an opposition player, and not once look up to pass - turning attack into defence.

I actually thought he was an excellent third choice striker. Stick him on the bench, bring him on after 65 minutes and he'd regularly turn a game for you by running at players. Play him from the start and he'd run himself into the ground and have nowt left at the end. We spent all day aimlessly kicking it for Bruce to chase for at least half the season, which is why we got relegated. He had one dimension to his game and if it didn't work, that was it we'd lost, it was soooo predicatable.

Bruce Dyer was a CLASS act. FACT!

The sheer amount of goals he scored and the sheer amount of quality some of those posessed (Huddersfield in the 7-1 massacre, his 2nd was world class) were immense.

One of the most hard working and productive players we've ever had.

Why do people slate Sheron so much? Again, a quality player (who, I'll admit was lazy at times) who on his day was right up their with the best strikers (and playmakers) in the division.
