Myth that he cost £1.2m That was based on success f the club and player for the duration of his contract. Initial outlay was £500k.
Leicester said undisclosed at the time We needed a big money signing to appease some of the fans - and I am led to believe the terms of the contract were 500k upfront with the rest based on appearance, goals scored and positions in the league the club ended up over the term of his contract. I dont think we'll pay anywhere near that fee, especially after last year Poetic licence on the advertisement of it.
So you base 500k on the fact that leicester never mentioned 500k Barnsley football club quote number one: "REDS new boy Iain Hume will wear the number seven shirt for the Reds after his £1.2m switch from Leicester City." Quote two: "Iain moved to Oakwell for a £1.2m fee" Quote three: "four goals began to repay the £1.2m transfer fee splashed out in the summer" Four: "Iain Hume made the move from Leicester City for a fee of £1.2m" Five: "Barnsley World subscribers can now watch new £1.2m signing Iain Hume" There are several more examples of barnsley stating that he cost us £1.2m and these include examples written in the last couple of months.
Just wondering if .... the lack of capital has slowed down the whole transfer circus. It usually takes a couple a bigger deals to spark off a whole chain of events. I think the whole circus looks as though it will be slower this time round and, maybe, more players will choose to stay with their current clubs - in that case we might not get Adam, but might keep Anderson etc etc
