Good old Charlie Hanks

Don't they say that when you make up a false name you always choose something related to your own?

    He's not 'slagging them off'

He's telling it like it is. Why would he slag them off?

The facts speak for themselves. Other academies at this level and below have produced many players that are good at this level and higher. We fail to do this.

Clearly there are underlying problems, whether it's attracting players or staff at the club.

I don't know what the answer is, but fail to believe that Red Rain or anyone else, 'has it in' for the Academy or anyone there.

I appreciate honesty, not someone pretending we've got the next Kaka and Ronaldo coming through.

    And another thing....

Manchester United beat Barnsley 21-0 this season, I think at under 13 or under 14 level and at Oakwell. Looks good for the future hey?

These Academy lads are at the start of their careers. Probably the most difficult career you could ever choose to make a living in. I wonder how many people posting here have even got close to the level of football that these lads are playing at? There have been a lot of abusive generalisations made against these boys and often I suspect by people who have never seen them play. Drag yourselves away from your laptops on the odd Saturday morning and go and watch them play.

    I agree.

An independent opinion is best. Whether that is the case is unknown to me. I don't know Red Rain or RedRobin.

    Hi 'Walter Goodman'

Do you realise that every single one of your posts have been defending the avademy since you joined up a few short months ago? The only critical post has been to say that Atkinson didn't look up for it. Basically saying that him not being good enough is due to his own mistakes not the academy.

No genuine Reds fan is slagging the academy lads off

It's nonsense to suggest otherwise and just plays into the hands of those that don't like sites like this where 'unofficial' fans can air their opinions.

    Selective, sanctimonious tosh

Having read all of Red Rain's article it is clear he has said nothing of the sort.

He is as entitled to his opinion as you are and I know whose I believe and trust. And that is not someone who picks a couple of words out of a long article and attempts to twist them to suit his own agenda.

Carry on expressing your opinion Red Rain - fook the club thought police.

    Alternative Theory....

Having seen a few academy matches it does seem we do have one or two that if nurtured correctly may have something. However....

The fact remains, that none of them (hardly) seem to make the actual step up to being a regular.

Now, having seen some of the sessions/matches, it is clear that the difference in discipline between the 1st team and the acdamy is somewhat miles apart which can only be directed at the coaching staff and the ones designing sessions etc.

Linking into DJ fatties post, this may also be one of the reasons why SD won't give them a shot, as the lack of discipline (which would fall way short of 1st team expectations) doesn't "prepare" (Word chosen carefully) for the 1st team.

So why did I choose prepare carefully. In my view the academy should be aiming to develop the young and also prepare them for 1st team life, if that preperation and discipline isn't their, then they will immediately fall short of one of the aspects required to make the 1st team grade.

To me its something that could make sense (then again its a theory).

End of the day, the 1st team managers get sacked for not producing results, this doesn't seem the same with the academy, they aren't producing results so following the anti davey crowd i say:

    Academy Coaches OUT!!!

    Agree

They're beginning to sound like a clip from 'Carry On Cleo'
