    Absolute BS.

He could have immediately gone 4-4-1, like he would normally do and like he is so often accused of, just 'hoped for a goal'. I wouldn't have complained had he made the change immediately. But he saw that Donny weren't an attacking threat, and that we could cope with 3 at the back while we chased the goal. The goals quickly came, and he made the change. But he knew we had attacking momentum so he left 2 upfront.

The bloke can't win with some of the people on here. I've been a huge critic but he deserves credit today, and I know you won't give it to him.

RE: Kept it a three at the back

He'd been trying to get Hassell on for a little while before he actually came on.

but just because he would normally have made a stupid decision doesnt meant that because he made the right, obvious one he is suddenly really radical and brave, it just means that he didnt **** up like normal surely?

    No he hadn't.

He had him stripped to come on but he changed his mind. Hassell put his tracksuit back on and sat back down. It wasn't until the 2nd goal that he got re-stripped and was introduced.

RE: I don't think that most managers would have gone four at the back

He didn't go 4 at the back when we were losing. Wasn't it 2-1 by the time Bobby came on?

    No he hadn't

He told Hassell to get changed straight away, but then he told him to put his jumper on and sit back down.

Believe what you want, theres no convincing you of anything anyway.

Too many people on here genuinely seem like they wish we'd lost so they'd get their wish with Davey.

I know he didn't, that was my point

I was saying that there are very few managers that would have been stupid enough to go 4-4-1 when they NEEDED to win. Davey not doing this doesnt mean he was incredibly brave and a tactical genius, it just means he wasnt stupid.

    I disagree

Almost anyone would have gone 4-4-1 immediately.
Yes, we needed to score but another concession would have been calamitous.

I think it was brave-verging-on-foolhardy to back the attacking players he had on the pitch to make the necessary breakthrough despite the previous 500 minutes of goalless football that had gone before, leave alone back a 3-man defence to prevent Doncaster going on to seal the win.

Davey took the gamble and it paid off. Credit where credit is due.

It's interesting, not once have I said that Davey did anything wrong today yet apparently there's no convincing me, i wanted us to lose and i thought davey was crap all game apparently. Weird how I say one thing and you read another isnt it

well its nice to have won but weve papered over the cracks, wait till we lose the next 3 games and the cracks will appear again. we still ant got a goalscorer so things wont change especially when davey has know intentions of finding one.

It becomes too easy to read things into your comments with the constant negativity.

    no one said radical

    you said radical.

    i said brave.

    which it was.

playing 3-4-2 rather than 4-4-1 is brave in my book.

They're a f*ckin menace. I'd have no hesitation in taking my shotgun and blowing the biggest hole possible in any of that breed.
