Thats not Journalism then

Whats the point asking questions if you're not going to gain any insight?

Is that what Oakwell AM is all about, keeping the club's management "on-side"? There's history to prove it of course, with the radio Sheffield debacle. Seems to me the club have scared the local media into writing and broadcasting namby pamby pieces with no actual insight into any negative tactics or player selection.

I don't want to read or hear that sort of stuff. Maybe you should grit your teeth and ask him why he's playing with no wingers, or with one striker. Or without our expensive signings. Etc.

Sounds like they're all scared- even the Chron doesn't seem to be as cutting as it used to be. And we all know Derne FM won't say a bad word. Ditto the programme. Make no wonder Davey isn't changing tactics, he's probably in some protective cocoon thinking all is well.

Its not, and he should tell us why.

So why bother speaking to him at all ?

"Simon you're great, but today you were slightly less great than usual. Was that the refs fault ? "

Is that the real reason we don't play with Radio Sheff anymore ? Because they actually ask questions rather than arse lick ?

    Is Davey like Hitler?

Local Media running scared of elimination?

Coercing those who have fallen out with him?

    Zeig-heil!!!!!

Oakwell AM: Another disappointing defeat Simon?

SD: We didn't take our chances and at this level you get punished

Oakwell AM: Still, nevermind, you looked quite dapper in that shirt and tie.

    SD: Kayo Odejayi is awesome

Oakwell AM: That’s what I was about to say. Whats your wife made you for tea?

    SD: Meatballs

Oakwell AM: Thanks Simon, make sure you tuck a napkin in your collar, that tomato sauce is a bugger to wash out.

    SD: Vanish Oxyaction

    Aww well done

You've made someone's day by responding to them. A small glimmer of light in a dark sad world. I think he had a frenzied **** sesh after reading what you put.

    Good post , mate.

I think Gordon Shepherd would be more than entitled to ask those questions of Simon Davey. After all, Mr Shepherd and the board backed Simon Davey in a big way this last summer in the transfer market, only for the majority of the players to be absent for the starting line-up come January. Common sense dictates that not all of the new arrivals would be a success. However, would it be too much to ask that the majority of said players be holding down a regular place in the starting eleven?
I don't know whether the reasons behind the likes of Johnson, Ricketts, Kozluk & Christensen never being picked is down to a clash of personalities with Mr Davey, or whether their failure to be selected for the first team is down to purely footballing issues. Truth be told, none of us do. But, as long as this winless streak continues in the league, everyone (whether they be chairman, director, wealthy benefactor or fan) has the right to query Mr Davey's team selections & formations.
I do not deny Mr Davey has the right to make all these decisions as he sees fit. However, if things are not going well, then his employers and the club's customers have every right to raise any concerns.

I've only just got over it. I was sat shaking in a corner, crying and hoping I hadn't upset anyone.

To be fair it made me reflect how much I don't like Jay on a weekend.

    I'm sorry but thats ******

If you launch an attack on him with agressive questioning thats one thing - but surely you can ask him to explain the thinking behind tactical changes he made - he doesnt have to answer.

For example if you asked "One week ago you said Coulson wasnt good enough to start and then unbelievably you played him for his first ever start as a lone striker that didnt work did it - why on earth did youi do that" - he will probably be a bit upset.

    If instead you ask
"You started with Coulson as a lone striker which I must admit I wasnt expecting - what was the thinking behind that"

surely thats not a question he can take offence at

If you really cant ask any questions that he might find a bit difficult you might as well not bother with any interview at all.

Certainly plenty of (usually) harmless buffoonery, the tone however seems to have changed a tad of late.

    Almost lost bladder control there.
    With fear and intimidation, obviously.
