Tina I can only go on my experieces with him Sounds like you were luckier than I. glad to hear that the club are doing a bit more out in the schools.
Tina Tyke couldnt agree more ,but would take me 3 hours to go on and on about what you are saying, yes he doesnt always get it right but he aint done bad up to now ,i think he is the nearest thing we have had to danny wilson ,but if you heard some of the stories ive heard from within the club about danny,he didnt get it right all the time ,his near fight with redders his stand off with hendrie ,these are all learning curves for every manager in football, even fergie drop a few B*ll*cks but hey look what he as acheived,i worry for our first 4 matches 3 out of the 4 favorites to be promoted if we have the start like richie had fans will turn on him unlike they did on richie. Please lets stick with him we need the continuity to improve, and are doing that slowly.
worried about the first few games? think of Watford...WBA...Chelsea!! we always beat the big guns at home, its the smaller clubs we want to be worrying about!!!
haha yeah i know wot you mean. but...we will beat the big boys...the 'fans' who turn on him...aren't fans!! we wont be a properly gelled squad until January at the least!!!
Excellent read, Tina. I'm with you totally on this too. He has his negative points, but don't forget he's still young and learning. Things are promising, and i'm sure even better times are ahead with him at the helm.
He must be doing something right to be linked with a post currently occupied by a potential future Portuguese national team coach.

Great Post Tina 2 of the best managers in the game (Alex Ferguson and David Moyes), rate SD. Let's give the bloke some support. Haven't we had enough of the managerial merry-go-round?
Pretty much what Spackman introduced before administration. We were doing it as cheap as possible afterwards.
Absolutely agree Tina course, if you've made your mouth on here about not liking him, its hard to swallow your pride and admit your wrong.
pfft... common sense and good reason on the bbs ! whatever next !.. well said tina , my thoughts entireley
"I have been totally and utterly baffled by some of Davey's signings, tactics, man management etc" There's 9,000 there who would agree with you. But hey-ho, he knows his Chilean third division reserve left-backs like the back of his hand.
So he must be doing summat right.

RE: Ha Ha Always rely on Conkotyke to disagree with me cough, cough, when did I disagree with you Tina? I agreed with you! I merely staed that no everyone backs himso unwaveringly as you! (youngen)
You do have to stop being silly SM. Personally, I don't like Ferguson, but I'm not going to call his talent as a football manager into question. One day I hope I can say Davey is an exceptional manager, but I don't like him. Would that be okay? Or does it mean I'm "a thick lovely person who knows nothing"?
I'm with you Tina We have brought so many managers into Oakwell over the years. Most of the successful managers have been with their respected clubs for a number of years. Wenger,Gradi, Fergusson, Moyes and others. If we are to progress then Davey should be given the chance to take this club forward, and given time to do that. For me he is an exciting manager, the guy as a scouting system and contacts all over the place and BarnsleyFC are just begining to benefeit from this. I know he will bring in players that will not come up to scratch, but he will come up with some gems as well. He is a forward moving manager, other Chairmen have their radar locked onto Davey on what he has acheived at Barnsley in his short stay. If we get into the top ten next season then i expect Davey to be approached by bigger fish than Barnsley, plus the welsh national team. So we should give him our upmost support next season, and if does bring success to BarnsleyFC we should chant his name to fever pitch.
And what if he brings in a load of foriegn ***** ..... ...... wastes another million like he did on Mostto and Christiensen (fees + wages) and we are in the bottom 3 from 9th August onwards? Do we still chant his name and stick with him all the way into League One, just for continuity purposes? I'm just interested to know, just in case if he turns out not to be the new Messiah, that lots on here think he is
I agree we have to support him and the club in whatever decisions they make pre season and hope it works out. For me the Cup matches last season were an absolute bonus for him. However, on the other hand we had a diabolical away record last season in the league and failed to win any of our local derby's. I wander if the same 'loyalty' will prevail if, despite the large amount of money spent strengthening the team, they do not perform and after the first three months are in the lower part of the league. ????
RE: And what if he brings in a load of foriegn ***** ..... It's all "ifs and buts" football, if he takes us down, if we get promoted, if we do well, if the player dosn't come up to scratch, if the money was well spent. Football will never change and fans have their oppinions. Simon Davey is BarnsleyFC manager and we are fans and we should support him. The criticism and praise will come at the end of the campaign.
