We have some very good players but a poor manager.

What people also forget is that a "respected" manager can also by reputation and success be it in the past can persuade good players to come.
The fact is and this is well known in the media is that Davey has a poor reputation with the football "players "circles for being "aloof", this also puts players off coming to the club.
example is if a company you know offered you a job but you knew the regime to be "poor or intransigent then you would not go to work for that company, ITS exactly the same with footballers, Daveys "persona" is well known to many players.

    Stop the waffle........................FFS.

Simon Davey is going to be there what ever at the end of the season i.e. even if we get relegated

Biglil brought up a good point about the 'significant funds available'...........BUT..........read what PC had to say about this in the Chronicle supplement
In a nutshell PC said this.............they (PC and SD) have tried to get players to the club but no matter how much money they have offered, and in the case of Phillips they offered more than any other club, if the player didn't want to join Barnsley (because they may percieve the TARN as either a struggling or poverty striken or northern town, or indeed all of these) then no matter how much money was offered they just could not be persuaded.

So, along while ago i mentioned on here that a director is desperatly needed who has a 'name' in football. This would be an attractive addition to the board.
Someone who has been in football for a long time and is well respected and is able to be involved in sensitive negotiations

I think you may be half right. We do need someone with a name in football circles, someone who can draw players to the club. Someone who has a reputation that will inspire players, both old and new. The bit you got wrong was "director" or "board member". The position where we need those qualities is the MANAGER.

If that's true and the funds are there but the players don't want to come.......

    ...Simon Davey has to go.

And I don't know who all these characters within football who rate him so highly are but one look at the odds leaves you in no doubt what the bookies think to him.
