RE: You wont have done any such thing Ritchie nor Davey are up to managing Championship clubs, Parkin days are here again. Signing a kid on loan from Man U's 3rd team whos played once for the first team in the Mickey Mouse cup against Barnet doesnt make Davey a Saint. Box Office Signings my arse.
That's the route in to the game now via the Academies. A manager needs to have coaching experience and the best place for that is in the Academy whilst he progressess up through the various levels of qualification. In some Countries, and I will use Germany as an example, a player can take the UEFA B Licence without having to take level 1 or 2 qualifications. They have to coach in an Academy for a minimum of 3 years before they are allowed to manage. Thats why Klinsman and Stefan Kunts didn't move directly from being International player s to managers. Qualifications only prepare a person for the demands of the modern game they don't guarantee success.
johnb Don't you think it's a bit early to say that Simon can't manage at this level? He's not had many games yet. Your Crystal Ball must be better than mine.
All player/managers to begin with. Got their starts because they had more than one string to their bow, or at least people knew they had the one string!</p>
