It depends what you mean We lost 3-1, bottom line. But... if the silly mistakes hadn't been made for 2 of the goals, particularly the poor marking/goalkeeping for the first goal, it could have been a lot different. We created quite a lot of chances but they were missed, as per usual. We had free kicks around the box, quite a few corners, and on another day with better finishing we could have won. But JCR still isn't a central midfielder and that ruined what otherwise might have been an excellent performance.
"the delivery of the free kick was excellent" This really hits the nail on the head for me, our free kicks are awful, we just chip them into the box real slow & 90% of the time the keeper just has an easy catch!! Free kicks need to be wipped in at pace, this way you only need a glancing touch on it to score! Defenders hate free-kicks like this, it often leads to an own goal or at least a corner!
I put this to him at Bramall Lane last season, which is part of the reason he fell out with me Said Gillespie's ball in for the goal was impossible to defend against, yet when I asked if he was therefore disappointed with Howard's set pieces that game (a number around the box in dangerous positions that were awful), he said they were well defended. You can see what I was up against doing the interviews.
I agree with him we did not play brilliantly either. 2/3 terrible defensive mistakes and nothing in the 18 yarder was our problem.
On the free kick situation (sorry if its already been stated) but what the hell do we do in training, from the swansea match, amongst others, nobody seems to know who is taking it or where to go. Which makes me believe there aint a lot of organisation at the place, which is why the players were bumping into each other etc.
Knew the FA Cup semi final would get a mention! .... ........ think its been said before to him but 'well done' for that Simon ......... now stop us getting relegated you dick
RE: Cack Were cack, we play unattractive football and do not score any goals, worst season at oakwell for quite a while. Its that simple. Season ticket will not be renewed if SD is in charge. I just cant be arsed with them at the moment, same with everyone i speak to, not because we dont love the club, just cause there so boring at present. All enthusiasm is out the window.
but not going to get much else than that with the way he sets up the team and the way we play. You have hit the nail on the head but just like Davey - it doesnt seem to be hitting home that we are foobarred if we keep going about our games this way.
"We have to draw on the experiences we have had in the last two years." The time for that was the start of the season you numptie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not when we find ourselves in the EXACT or WORSE position as last time. What a *******. You have got us in this position 3 seasons running now - you must **** off whether we stay up or go down. NUFF SAID
It's a pity we have never seen fit to sort out our own set pieces To have a loan player taking all of the corners and free kicks really stinks. What the hell were we doing before Hammill arrived?
RE: "We have to draw on the experiences we have had in the last two years." This is a manager who said we would be challenging at the other end of the league this season. Totally inept tactically and motivationally. This manager's track record of signing strikers is a joke, and in my opinion will cost him his job. NO GOALS = RELEGATION. PS I will still be there next year regardless, but I know lot's who won't...
"We performed very very well against them at our place Is this not the game that was delayed because there coach broke down and they only arrived at Oakwell at 2.30 pm? We looked more like the team that had been stuck on the coach not them! I don't remember us playing very very well. Does anyone else think we played well in that one nil defeat?
