He made two or three excellent crosses

And Paddy Kenny made a good save from him in the first half. FYI and all that

Did you actually take note of the positions?

I'm starting to doubt it, really.

JCR wasn't even playing on the wing. He wasn't supposed to TAKE PLAYERS ON - he was assigned to do the basics, after we re-shuffled due to the stupidity of Anderson. He should be given a hell of a lot of credit today.

I'm not saying Devaney had a piss-poor game. He didn't, he worked hard. But he worked hard without actually DOING ANYTHING.

Paradoxically; James Beattie did absolutely nothing today, but scored two goals - funny old game, eh?

RE: No where near the standards of Devaney

So wheres the difference between him and JCR? I'll tell you, JCR aint got a few planks, sat behind a laptop who don't even go to games spurting off about how **** he is.

    Your going way off point...

When Devaney crosses a ball, he can put a good ball in - he HAS that ability. However, time and time again, we see him put in some extraordinary build up play, only to either hit the keeper, hit the stands or hit the first defender. Sometimes, on rare, rare occasions - he puts in a devillish cross (like at Anfield) or scores a blinder of a goal (like at Plymouth). My main gripe is not at his ability but at his inconsistency, of which, at Championship level, you need to have, otherwise, both you and your team will suffer. Of course, every player has a bad game. With Devaney, he doesn't have too many bad games overall, but he doesn't have too many games where he consistently delivers chances that strikers can put away, and that's a problem.

    My mistake...

I thought you were referring to JCR.

However, I think my point is totally valid. Devaney is a hard worker - that is all. On rare occasions, he can deliver, but those occasions are few and far between. When was the last time he scored? When was the last time he contributed to a goal? I really can't remember...

oh, and he's the only player to turn and shoot from the edge of their box

will probably get better with games too

Sheffield Wednesday, Humes Goal. Donny away, won the ball for the goal, Charlton, Won both the free kick and corner for two of the goals.

    Satisfied?

Thought he was very poor - made little contribution to the game.

    In my opinion

JCR played really well today in central midfield

Devaney caused Sheff Utd all sorts of problems down the wing and did get over some good crosses.

Whaley played OK, but for me he didn't offer the same attacking threat that Devaney and JCR did. He didn't seem to want to take on the full back. I think the team would have performed better if we'd started with another striker rather than Whaley.

    Your clutching at straws now...

Come off it. He's a decent player; but that is all.

When he scores, or creates a goal - I will salute him. He played pretty good today, but overall, I feel he is just making up numbers. I know he's your favourite player - but even hero's need a reality check at some point.

Again - I'm not saying he was bad today; he wasn't. But he was hardly the man of the match.

Apart from the assist to the goal...of course. Or did you miss that?

Is it me, or are you guys more interested in players just running and running rather than actually creating and scoring goals? Strange bunch.

Clutching at straws? I have just proved, as you asked, that he really does make a difference to us, and arguably without his effort into those moments, that others wouldnt have made, we'd have 6 points less now.

Plus, he isn't my favourite player, but he is a fecking class act. Barnsley legend.

Skinned their left back time and again.

But he did get called lazy by some guys behind us when he had the audacity to limp when he'd had his foot trod on.

Mind you - these are the same guys who were criticising when Hume was substituted saying "Davey is clueless, taking a striker off when we are a goal down"! Forget the fact he's just had Morgan's elbow implanted in his face then!
